Job description
Objective / Purpose of the Department
To provide customs administration and support services to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with statutory customs requirements and company operating procedures for shipments to and from European and non-European locations. The role involves accurately processing customs documentation, coordinating clearance activities, and maintaining records to facilitate the smooth flow of goods while adhering to regulatory and company standards. The Customs Co-ordinator plays a key role in ensuring efficient day-to-day operations while supporting a professional and compliant working environment.
Objective / Purpose of the Job
• To provide customs administration services in line with required KPIs for the movement of high-value and sensitive goods within a controlled and compliant environment. The role involves accurate processing of customs documentation, always ensuring adherence to statutory regulations and company procedures.
• The Customs Co-ordinator will be responsible for communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including customs authorities, trusted partners, and freight forwarders, to provide accurate and timely information.
• The role requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure the on-time submission of customs declarations and reports to HMRC within agreed SLA standards.
• Additionally, the role involves supporting management by assisting with procedural updates, maintaining compliance records, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. Ensuring a professional and cooperative working environment while adhering to departmental, customer, and regulatory operating procedures is essential.
• The role involves supporting management and colleagues by assisting with training on customs procedures, compliance requirements and best practices. Helping with development training materials and provide guidance to ensure team members stay up to date with regulatory changes and company processes.
Applicant's profile
Essential Education and/ or Training (please add local requirements)
• GSCE or equivalent
• Customs recognised course – Level 3 or above
Preferred Experience and Knowledge (number of years, type of experience)
• Customs knowledgeable
• Import and Export experience
• Experience of Importing and exporting goods in//out Customs Warehouse controlled stock
• Logistics service provider
Necessary Technical / Functional Skills
• High levels of Communication and Customer Service
• IT skills – PC literate and able to operate with MS office system
• UK Export / Import processing – Customs Warehousing, NES/NCTS
• HMRC Customs Procedures to AEO required standards
• Knowledge of HMRC Taxation management and reclaims, Customs procedures for Import and Export
