Project Specialist

Position requirements and constraints (working hours…)

37.5 hours Monday to Friday

To provide integrated logistics solutions for customers specialising in the Projects / Oil & Gas sector.
To ensure adherence to the CAA, TAPA & physical security regulations always.
Ensuring compliance to Health & Safety policies. That housekeeping guidelines are maintained.
That HMRC, GDP and IATA regulations are adhered to.

Objective / Purpose of the Job

  1. Receiving and checking purchase order details from customer
  2. Providing exceptional customer service as expected from a Global Freight Forwarder
  3. Liaison / expediting with suppliers regarding goods readiness dates/terms of sale
  4. Arranging collections and deliveries
  5. Arrange packing of cargo as required
  6. Requesting/receiving/checking export documents from suppliers
  7. Consolidation of cargo for export by all transport Modes
  8. Booking space with carriers
  9. Completing export / import documentation
  10. Maintaining/updating in house & external bespoke IT track and trace systems
  11. Other duties as required and commensurate with the position

Key Activities / Accountabilities

  1. Close and high quality liaison with customer, suppliers and packers
  2. Close working relationship with Geodis UK offices and warehouse colleagues
  3. Good interface with other Geodis operations worldwide as required
  4. Maintenance of IT track and trace systems
  5. Maintenance of external internet portals
  6. Solve in a proactive manner any operational disputes with customers and Geodis offices and agents worldwide
  7. Invoicing: Target levels are met
  8. Accurate accruals for cost and Income. Parameters will be informed accordingly

Special Working Conditions

The availability to work extended/flexible hours to ensure that cargo is received and despatched in accordance with customer requirements.

Applicant\'s profile

Essential Education and/ or Training

• Educated to ‘O\' / GCSE and or ‘A\' level standard or equivalent

Preferred Experience and Knowledge

  • 3-year minimum experience with the following basic skills:
  • Knowledge of international air/sea/road Freight Forwarding/ Industrial Projects
  • Experience in UK customs formalities
  • Knowledge/fluency in French and/or other European languages an advantage
  • Some commercial experience would also be an advantage
  • Proven experience of heavy Sea freight and project cargo would be of advantage
  • Experience in onshore / offshore wind farm projects would be of advantage
  • Any Air or Sea freight charter experience

Necessary Technical / Functional Skills

  • Good computer skills
  • Able to communicate fluently in English
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Good team player
  • IT Literate (Word and Excel intermediate level is essential)

Required Behavioural Competencies

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good personal presentation
  • Flexibility on working hours
