At Promar, we work alongside farming businesses to provide trusted, data-led advice that drives better decision-making and long-term success. Combining technical expertise, financial insight and industry-leading benchmarking, our consultants help farmers identify opportunities, overcome challenges and improve performance across every aspect of their business.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with farmers, building long-term relationships and providing tailored advice across areas such as farm business performance, technical improvement, financial management, nutrition, forage and soil management, fertility, infrastructure, compliance, sustainability and diversification. The role would suit someone with a strong understanding of agriculture who enjoys working with people, solving problems and turning insight into practical action.
You will work as part of an experienced team of consultants, partnering with farmers to understand their businesses and deliver advice that helps them achieve their objectives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building trusted, long-term relationships with farming clients.
- Visiting farms to understand business performance, technical challenges and improvement opportunities.
- Carrying out technical and financial analysis to identify strengths, risks and areas for improvement.
- Using Promar and wider industry benchmarking data to provide clear, objective insight.
- Delivering practical recommendations that support profitability, efficiency, sustainability and resilience.
- Supporting clients with areas such as nutrition, fertility, forage and soil management, livestock housing, farm infrastructure, environmental compliance, organic production and diversification.
- Helping farmers review business performance, plan for the future and make informed decisions.
- Growing and developing your own client base over time.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across Promar and the wider business.
- Taking part in team meetings, company events, agricultural shows, conferences and industry networking opportunities.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about agriculture and motivated by helping farming businesses succeed. You will bring:
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to understand client needs and influence key decision makers.
- A genuine interest in farm business performance, technical improvement and long-term sustainability.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload in a field-based role.
- Confidence using data, insight and practical knowledge to support decision making.
- A proactive approach to developing client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
- Good digital skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and other business systems.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to farms, client meetings and industry events.
- Experience in agriculture, farm consultancy (big plus), technical sales, nutrition, farm business management or another client-facing agricultural role would be valuable.
- An agricultural, agriscience or business-related qualification would also be beneficial, but we are open to different backgrounds where you can demonstrate relevant knowledge, credibility and a strong interest in supporting farming clients.
Joining Promar means joining a business with a long-standing reputation for insight, reliability and practical support. Our consultants work side by side with farmers, helping them navigate challenges, unlock opportunities and prepare for the future. This is an opportunity to develop your career in agricultural consultancy while making a direct impact on the performance, profitability and resilience of farming businesses.
