About the role:

The Mechanical Design Engineer role is responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of mechanical and electronic products, equipment, and systems within the Cistermiser and Keraflo product range. The role is heavily mechanically biased but there is a requirement to integrate electrical and electronic componentry into mechanical designs. In addition, the role involves creating innovative and cost-effective design solutions that meet customer requirements, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.

Your day to day:

  • Design mechanical components, products and systems from concept through to manufacture.
  • Work with 3rd party electrical/electronic designer to progress designs and integration.
  • Integrate electrical and electronic components into mechanical designs as specified by the 3rd party electrical/electronic designer.
  • Produce CAD modules and engineering drawings.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities to include new products and product value engineering.
  • Manage assigned engineering projects to achieve agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders regarding technical requirements and project progress.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and engineering records.
  • Provide technical support during production and assembly processes.
  • Support the introduction of new products into production.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth operational flow and achievement of business objectives.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating trademark behaviours, professionalism and a positive attitude at all times.

Skills & Experience we require:

  • Previous experience in a mechanical design engineering role.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD Inventor.
  • Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and BOMs.
  • Knowledge of materials, injection moulding and tooling, fabrication methods, machining, and assembly techniques.
  • Understanding of basic electronic and control principles (desirable).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Comfortable leading individual research and design projects.
  • Comfortable monitoring and reporting progress of research and design projects.
