Now part of the Genuit Groups’ Climate Management Solutions (CMS) business unit, Nu-heat has ambitious growth plans.
This role is FTC for 18 months. The Assistant Accountant reports to the Finance Manager and is responsible for key components of the day-to-day finance function, including preparation of the monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, financial controls, audit and group reporting and compliance requirements, and supporting with the processing of purchase ledger transactions and invoice payments, and expenses and credit card transactions. They will actively promote our Trademark Behaviours and consistently lead by example in so doing.
Working style: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days WFH.
Responsibilities
- Monthly Accounts
- Timeliness and accuracy of monthly management accounts.
- Responsible for reconciling balance sheet accounts each month, including accruals, prepayments, and inventory.
- Contributing to month end timetable and deliverables through timely and accurate completion of month end transactional and financial control activities.
- Purchase ledger
- Posting incoming purchase invoices, credit notes and expense claims.
- Supplier statement checking.
- Dealing with supplier queries.
- Processing partner commission claims.
- Supporting and liaising with purchasing to ensure adherence to the group procurement policy, including setting up vendor accounts on NetSuite.
- Ownership of purchase ledger to ensure balances are accurate.
- Weekly payment runs, ensuring suppliers are paid within terms and purchase discounts are realised.
- Processing and reconciliation of monthly credit card statements.
- VAT
- Preparation and submission of the company’s quarterly VAT returns.
- Quarterly sales revenue reconciliations.
- Banking
- Support with posting incoming and outgoing bank transactions.
- Support on reconciling GBP account daily and EUR account weekly.
- Ensure any unreconciled transactions are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Responsible for weekly cash flow forecasting, ensuring accuracy and/or evolving processes to assist group cashflow forecasting requirements.
- Uploading to Group within timetable deadlines.
- Finance Team
- Manage a fluctuating workload, ensuring that accuracy is maintained at a high level.
- Cover other areas of finance when team members are on holiday or during periods of greater workload.
- Group reporting and compliance requirements to include but not limited to: Half-year and year-end tax pack submissions, Mid-year, pre and post year-end audit requests.

- Identify opportunities for process and control improvements and work closely with the finance manager to prioritise and implement.
- Ensure excellent internal customer service by supporting the rest of the business with finance queries in a timely manner.
- Support on ad-hoc projects and look to drive increased efficiencies and automation.
- Support with other ad-hoc tasks and duties as required.
- Assist in producing the information required for external and internal audit.
The Person
- Part qualified or relevant financial control and month-end experience.
- Good attention to detail and ability to work in an accurate, calm and methodical manner.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritise workload.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve problems.
- Strong levels of internal and external customer service.
- Good IT skills – competence with Excel is essential and experience of accounting software.
- Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the business and an effective team player.
