Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and highly organised
Transport Supervisor to oversee our afternoon/evening transport operations at our National Distribution Centre in Rotherham.
Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of all outbound and inbound transport activities during your shift.
This role is critical in maintaining service levels, supporting driver performance, and ensuring full compliance with transport legislation and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all afternoon/evening transport operations to ensure on-time departures and deliveries.
- Manage and support a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to planned routes and schedules.
- Monitor vehicle availability and liaise with fleet/maintenance teams to address defects or issues.
• Ensure full compliance with
- Driver Hours Regulations
- Working Time Directive (WTD)
- Tachograph legislation
- Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Conduct driver briefings and debriefings, addressing performance, compliance, and service issues.
- Monitor and report on KPIs including OTIF (On Time In Full), vehicle utilisation, and absence.
- Investigate and document incidents, accidents, and service failures.
- Ensure accurate completion of all transport documentation and system updates.
- Support route planning and respond effectively to operational challenges in real time.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure site standards are maintained at all times.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a transport supervisory or team leader role , ideally within a distribution or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing drivers in a fast-paced operational setting.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to challenge and influence when required.
- Competent in transport management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
