We are seeking a reliable and organised Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic hospitality team in London, United Kingdom. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and efficiency within our busy kitchen environment. You will work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations whilst supporting food preparation and maintaining our kitchen facilities to the highest standards.

  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment by hand or using industrial dishwashers, ensuring all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised to health and safety standards.
  • Operate industrial floor cleaning equipment daily to maintain kitchen cleanliness and prevent hazards.
  • Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas, maintaining a hygienic and organised workspace.
  • Empty rubbish bins and ensure proper disposal of waste materials in accordance with environmental and health regulations.
  • Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, including peeling, chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients.
  • Receive, store, and organise kitchen supplies and ingredients, maintaining accurate inventory records and reporting stock levels.
  • Implement stock rotation practices (FIFO – First In, First Out) to ensure ingredient freshness and minimise waste.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is in good working order and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, contributing to a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Identify and report spillages, hazards, or potential safety concerns to senior kitchen staff immediately.
  • Assist with kitchen deep cleaning schedules and specialised cleaning tasks as required.
  • Support the preparation of mise en place and assist with kitchen setup for service periods.
  • Drive to alternative sites or locations as required, utilising your own transport.
  • Work flexibly and efficiently during peak service times, demonstrating resilience and a collaborative approach with colleagues.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and adhere to food safety protocols at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Excellent communication and people skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Food hygiene awareness and understanding of health and safety protocols.
  • Reliability and punctuality with a commitment to consistent attendance.

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation practices (desirable).
  • Experience or familiarity with industrial dishwashing equipment and procedures (desirable).

  • Knowledge of waste disposal procedures and environmental regulations (desirable).
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts.
  • Basic numeracy skills for recording and monitoring stock levels (desirable).
  • No formal qualifications required; however, relevant induction training will be provided.

This is a 40-hour-per-week contract, and you will be required to work 5 out of 7 days. Due to business requirements, overtime opportunities may also be available.
