The Opportunity

This is a senior, hands-on infrastructure leadership role at the heart of our UK & EMEA operations. As Lead Systems Engineer, you will own the stability, security, and resilience of our on-premises and hybrid platforms. You'll act as the regional technical authority and Tier-3 escalation lead, ensuring business-critical systems remain secure, performant, and highly available. You'll combine deep technical expertise with practical leadership, mentoring a small team while staying close to engineering. The Specifics

  • Regional Infrastructure Ownership
    • Serve as ICT Site Lead for London and senior technical authority for UK & EMEA
    • Own platform stability, resilience, and service continuity
    • Act as Tier-3 escalation lead for high-impact incidents
    • Partner closely with Global ICT, Security, Cloud, and Network teams
  • Advanced Support & Continuous Improvement
    • L1 support is primarily delivered through our India-based service desk; this role provides L2/L3 ownership and regional escalation authority for UK & EMEA
    • Strengthen escalation pathways between global L1 and engineering
    • Reduce repeat incidents through automation, optimisation, and documentation
    • Operate within ITIL/ITSM frameworks using Jira Service Management
  • Core Infrastructure Engineering
    • Design, optimize, and maintain Microsoft server environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Windows Server), ensuring security hardening, lifecycle governance, and performance resilience
    • Maintain security, patching, compliance, and lifecycle management
    • Oversee enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery capabilities
    • Lead DR testing and maintain recovery readiness
    • Manage and optimise virtualised platforms (VMware or equivalent)
  • Site & Endpoint Oversight
    • Provide technical oversight for LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and site systems
    • Support AV and collaboration technology
    • Support Jamf and Microsoft Intune aligned to global standards
  • Technical Leadership
    • Mentor and prioritise workload for 1–2 Systems Engineers
    • Drive engineering standards and operational excellence
    • Stay hands-on across infrastructure, escalation, and improvement initiatives

What we're looking for (you don't need to be a guru at all, we're looking forward to coaching and collaborating with you):

  • Strong hands-on experience with on-prem Microsoft server environments.
  • Expertise in Active Directory, Windows Server, Group Policy, and core Microsoft services.
  • Experience managing storage, backup, and disaster recovery platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of virtualisation platforms (VMware / hypervisors).
  • Working knowledge of enterprise networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi).
  • Hands-on experience with Jamf and Microsoft Intune.
  • Strong working knowledge of Jira Service Management.
  • Good understanding of ITIL / ITSM, particularly escalation and problem management.
