The Opportunity

This is a senior, system-level leadership role – accountable for ensuring the platform operates as a cohesive, scalable product, not a set of fragmented, customer-specific implementations. You will lead the integration of Product, Engineering, and Delivery, balancing live customer commitments with long-term platform evolution, and driving faster time to value, stronger customer outcomes, and sustainable product growth.

The Specifics

As Director of Product Development – Junifer, you will own the end-to-end Junifer product domain, shaping strategy, roadmap, and execution across products, markets, and customer segments. Your role will encompass the following key areas:

  • Domain Ownership & Strategy (Platform Focus)
    • Own the Junifer platform end-to-end, including billing, customer lifecycle management, integrations, and core platform capabilities
    • Define and drive the domain strategy, aligned to Gentrack’s g2.0 vision and utility market evolution
    • Ensure the platform evolves as a scalable, configurable product, reducing reliance on bespoke customer customisations
    • Identify and lead strategic investment areas, including: AI-driven automation and decisioning, platform scalability and performance, simplification of architecture and reduction of technical debt
    • Translate strategy into a clear, integrated domain roadmap spanning product, engineering, and delivery
  • Roadmap, Prioritisation & Delivery Alignment
    • Own domain-level prioritisation, balancing: customer commitments and delivery timelines, commercial impact and growth opportunities, platform health (performance, scalability, security)
    • Drive a single, aligned roadmap across Product, Engineering, and Delivery teams
    • Lead trade-off decisions across feature delivery, technical investment, and system sustainability
    • Ensure technical initiatives (e.g., performance, codebase health, security) are fully embedded into the roadmap, not treated as secondary work
    • Enable predictable, high-quality delivery across implementations through strong alignment and execution discipline
  • Complexity & Platform Leadership
    • Operate across a complex, mature platform ecosystem, including: multiple live customer implementations, configurable and evolving product layers, legacy and modern architecture components
    • Drive platform standardisation, while pragmatically managing customer-specific requirements
    • Lead key decisions across: build vs configure vs customise, short-term delivery vs long-term product integrity, platform consistency vs market-specific needs
    • Drive ongoing platform modernisation, balancing innovation with stability and backward compatibility
    • Bring clarity and direction in ambiguous, high-stakes environments
  • Customer & Market Leadership
    • Own strategic customer engagement for Junifer, including key accounts and complex delivery environments
    • Translate customer insight into product direction and prioritisation
    • Ensure the platform delivers: faster time to value for customers, high adoption and usability across capabilities, measurable business outcomes for customers
    • Maintain a strong view on: utility industry trends and regulatory environments, competitive positioning, emerging technologies (including AI)
    • Position Junifer as a differentiated, future-ready platform in the utilities market
  • Engineering & Product Development Leadership
    • Lead a truly integrated Product + Engineering + Delivery model, with clear end-to-end ownership
    • Set and enforce high standards for engineering excellence, including: software development lifecycle discipline, code quality, testing, and release management, system performance, scalability, and security
    • Drive reduction of technical debt and continuous improvement of the codebase and platform architecture
    • Ensure strong solution design governance, with reusable patterns and clear architectural direction
    • Build and scale high-performing teams, fostering: ownership and accountability, continuous improvement and experimentation, a quality-first mindset
  • Product Experience, Quality & Governance
    • Ensure a consistent, end-to-end product experience across the Junifer platform
    • Establish and maintain standards for: product quality and reliability, UX consistency and usability, functional integrity across modules
    • Drive strong documentation, product discipline, and governance practices
    • Ensure alignment to architecture principles and long-term scalability goals
  • Leadership & Cross-Functional Influence
    • Lead and develop Product Managers and Senior Product Managers within the Junifer domain
    • Drive strong alignment across: product, engineering, architecture, delivery, commercial and customer teams
    • Influence ELT-level decisions, including product direction, investment priorities, and strategic trade-offs
    • Foster a one-team, outcome-driven culture, aligned to Gentrack’s values
