Gentoo is looking for an Executive Director of Transformation & Technology to lead the next phase of its technology and transformation journey. This is a genuine leadership role in the Executive Team of one of the UK's leading Housing Associations, with aspirations to be the best social housing provider in the country.
Your role will take ownership of how technology, data, change and delivery come together to improve housing services and local communities for over 60,000 people.
If you're an experienced technology and transformation leader who enjoys building capability, influencing at Board level and using technology to drive meaningful organisational change, then this could be an amazing and purpose-led Executive opportunity for you.
The company
Gentoo is one of the largest housing providers in the Northeast, managing around 30,000 homes across Sunderland and employing over 1,100 colleagues who are passionate about providing safe, warm homes and outstanding services.
The organisation has ambitious plans, and continues to invest in people’s homes, communities and services, while being one of the highest performing housing providers in the country.
Gentoo has significantly modernised its technology landscape with major investment across enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, data, cyber security and core business systems, while a large-scale transformation programme is underway to modernise the organisation's technology estate.
Gentoo can boast exceptional regulator ratings and a clear strategy, with technology central to that ambition. Now they are looking for an Executive Director who can ensure technology becomes a genuine strategic advantage across the organisation.
The role
This is an Executive Director-level transformation role, created to:
- Bring together Technology, PMO and Business Transformation.
- Drive benefits realisation rather than simply delivering projects.
- Improve organisational pace, productivity and performance.
- Embed a transformation mindset across the organisation.
Your role as Executive Director of Transformation & Technology will be the key to Gentoo’s long-term ambition to become one of the UK's leading housing associations.
You’ll embed a technology and transformation approach that becomes a genuine enabler to deliver:
- Greater operational efficiency.
- Stronger technology adoption.
- Increased automation and AI.
- A transformation function embedded across the whole organisation.
All of this is central to Gentoo’s vision of using technology to deliver better outcomes for both tenants and colleagues.
What will you bring to Gentoo?
Gentoo is searching for an executive leader who understands both transformation and technology.
So you’ll be able to demonstrate
- Significant business transformation leadership across people, process and technology.
- Enterprise-wide change rather than isolated programme delivery.
- Executive leadership across Technology, Transformation, PMO, Data or Digital functions.
- Leading technology and digital transformation within a complex organisation.
- Portfolio and PMO leadership where you have embedded portfolio management, governance and benefits realisation.
- Delivering large-scale ERP, CRM or enterprise platform programmes.
- Influencing Executive Teams and Boards, translating concepts into clear business decisions.
You’ll be commercially minded, collaborative and comfortable making decisions that impact an entire business.
Gentoo is interested in leaders who can bring fresh ideas, challenge existing thinking and help accelerate the organisation's technology and transformation journey.
Salary and job location
Gentoo is offering an outstanding executive opportunity with an excellent salary and benefits package.
You’ll also benefit from a 4.5-day working week, with Friday afternoons free.
This is a hybrid role based in Sunderland that will require a visible executive presence across the organisation.
