The Internal Quality Auditor/Engineer ensures that the Gentex Quality Management System (QMS) is effectively implemented, compliant with ISO 9001 (and any other applicable standards/customer requirements), and is continuously improved across all manufacturing processes and business functions. This role combines audit execution with hands-on quality engineering responsibilities to drive process assurance, product conformity, and operational excellence.
Key Accountabilities:
- Plan, schedule, and conduct internal audits in line with the approved annual audit programme, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, internal procedures, and customer-specific requirements.
- Document audit findings, nonconformities, and opportunities for improvement, and support responsible functions in developing robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor the effectiveness of actions taken and verify closure of nonconformities.
- Support external and customer audits, including preparation, facilitation, and follow-up activities.
- Assist in maintaining and improving the QMS documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and forms.
- Participate in risk assessments, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), and root cause analysis teams.
- Collaborate with process owners to analyse data trends and identify systemic issues affecting product or process performance.
- Support the calibration, inspection, and testing processes to ensure ongoing measurement capability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company quality objectives, lean principles, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide training, guidance, and support to process owners and employees to enhance quality awareness and audit readiness.
- Creation of Key Performance Indicators to monitor the following:
- Internal audit schedule completion and timely reporting
- Closure rate and effectiveness of CAPA
- Reduction in repeat nonconformities
- Contribution to QMS improvements and certification maintenance
- Support for achieving departmental and company-wide quality objectives
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality tools and techniques, including SPC, 5W, 8D, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of relevant standards such as ISO 9001 & AS9100; experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or IATF 16949 is an advantage.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and measurement data.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Strong IT and data analysis skills (MS Packages inc. Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Power BI).
- Knowledge/understanding of SAP4/HANA an advantage.
Qualifications/Experience:
- HND / HNC in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Formal internal auditor / Lead auditor qualification to ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100 Rev D (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality engineering, internal auditing, or compliance roles within a manufacturing environment.
