About the job
Lead the development of advanced power and data management architectures for head borne systems. You'll work at the intersection of high-bandwidth, low-latency video distribution for enhanced night vision devices and next-generation smart battery pack design — shaping the electrical backbone of our helmet-mounted platforms to ensure efficient power delivery, robust data pathways, and seamless integration across mission-critical technologies. You’ll own new product development, execute roadmap architectures, drive continuous improvements, mentor engineers, and shape best practices across the facility.
Responsibilities
- Propose and own electrical architectures for new product development
- Perform schematic capture and PCB layout across power, digital, embedded, and analog circuits
- Create and release electronic assembly data packages for PCB and system manufacturing
- Develop system block diagrams and schematics for manufacturing support equipment
- Mentor junior engineers, designers, and technicians on electrical design and development
- Partner with business development on proof-of-concept prototypes
- Create test plans, coordinate validation testing, and generate qualification reports
- Support field failure analysis and address quality concerns or product changes
- Manage the electrical component database for new designs
- Support supply chain and manufacturing during new product transitions to production
- Contribute to cost estimation and cost reduction efforts for new projects
- Record, analyze, and interpret test data using appropriate statistical techniques
- Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations
- Report regularly on project status, flagging variances from baseline
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Expert knowledge of analog, digital, embedded, and power electronic systems
- Experience with embedded controllers, DSPs, ARM, modern microprocessors
- Experience with analog/audio design (microphone amplifiers, audio filters)
- Experience designing with linear and switch-mode regulators
- Experience with Serdes, Memory DDR3/4, MIPI and Parallel Video
- Experience with WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, IMU and GNSS devices
- Familiarity with EMI measurement and mitigation techniques (MIL-STD-461/MI-STD-810)
- Familiarity with Lattice FPGA’s, Software Radiant/Diamond
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools; Cadence/Allegro preferred.
- Experience in electro-mechanical assembly manufacturing; electro-acoustic components a plus
- Experience developing qualification test plans and reports preferred
- J-STD experience required; ISO9000/AS9100 knowledge a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication across all organizational levels
Location
Gentex’s Manchester facility is located in southern New Hampshire. Manchester is the largest convention, sports, entertainment, and arts.
