Gensler is seeking a Sustainability Strategist to manage the certification process and provide design guidance on projects pursuing LEED, WELL, BREEAM, Living Building Challenge, Fitwel and/or Net Zero Building Certification. Additionally, you may participate in consulting engagements that provide bespoke sustainability strategies for a wide range of world class clients and projects ranging from commercial interiors to ground up buildings and real estate portfolios.
As a Sustainability Strategist, you will work with a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence. You will work with the Europe Climate Action & Sustainability Consulting team in providing a full spectrum of sustainability advisory and support to clients and project teams, from pre-design through post-occupancy.
What You Will Do
- Work with clients and design teams to establish sustainable design and project certification goals, employing feasibility analysis or other methods to facilitate goal setting.
- Design and facilitate work sessions with clients and design teams to build consensus on sustainable design solutions.
- Coordinate with project design teams to provide sustainable design guidance and technical support, and certification process management, participating in and leading client meetings when necessary.
- Coordinate integration of Revit, IES, energy modeling, daylighting and other technical analysis in projects where needed.
- Coordinate the work of multiple consultants and team members.
- Ensure quality control and consistency across all projects.
- Establish and manage project fees, staffing, and client invoices for your projects.
- Participate in business development for Sustainability Certifications consulting project opportunities, ensuring prompt and timely response to all proposal requests.
- Identify and maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies, tools, and methods as they impact the delivery of green building design.
- Track regional and local regulations and incentives and provide guidance to clients.
- Ensure sustainable design projects status are integrated into Gensler marketing information (Digital Library).
- Ensure that lessons learned are shared across projects.
Your Qualifications
- 5+ year of post-graduate experience in a similar role.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in sustainable building, architecture, engineering, interiors or related field.
- LEED AP with at least one specialty required, or willingness to take the exam within 6 months of joining Gensler.
- Additional accreditations a plus (WELL, BREEAM, Fitwel, Living Building Challenge).
- Working knowledge and delivery experience of LEED, WELL, BREEAM, Fitwel – sufficient to be able to speak authoritatively to clients during business development.
- Significant interest in and aptitude for sustainable design, certifications, project management, and client relationships.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, project management, and consultant coordination (current expertise or interest/aptitude to build expertise quickly).
- Strong knowledge of LEED and certification project management, gained through directly relevant project experience and education.
- Ability to perform technical analysis is a plus (e.g. energy and daylighting simulation, specification writing, materials selection, cost and life cycle studies, etc.).
- Strong writing, speaking, organizational skills, and technical presentation ability.
- Able to teach and train effectively.
- Innovator, ability to create and successfully implement new programs.
- Ability to synthesize new information quickly.
- Self-directed and strong track record of autonomous delivery.
- Willingness to pursue certification in further accreditation to align to business needs.

Technical Skills
- Proficient user of LEED Online, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign.
- Familiarity with Revit.
- Familiarity with building simulation and LCA software.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, and other project management tools such as Smartsheet or Teams Planner, or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with digital collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, and willingness to learn others such as Miro and/or Mural.
This role requires on-site presence in our London office.
