Your RolePractice Area Market Leaders bring deep expertise in project delivery, client engagement, and thought leadership. They partner with clients and internal teams to deliver best-in-class projects that elevate brands and drive measurable business outcomes. Gensler’s Europe Region is seeking a leader to grow and strengthen our Retail & Consumer Experiences Practice, based in our London office. This individual will shape the strategic direction of the practice, expand our client base, and position Gensler at the forefront of experiential retail and consumer experience environments across the region.
What You Will Do- Establish and grow relationships with retailers, consumer brands, developers, and investors to expand Gensler’s retail and consumer portfolio in London and across Europe.
- Leverage your expertise in brand-led environments and business development to pursue and win projects across retail and adjacent lifestyle sectors (e.g., Hospitality, Sports, Entertainment, Aviation).
- Collaborate across offices and practice areas to advance an interdisciplinary design philosophy aligned with Gensler’s One-Firm culture.
- Lead and actively participate in new business pursuits (proposals, presentations, and client interviews) with clarity and conviction.
- Represent Gensler externally through speaking engagements, thought leadership, industry panels, and networking events, positioning the firm as a leader in retail and consumer experience design.
- Set strategic direction and provide executive oversight on key projects, ensuring design excellence, technical rigor, brand integrity, and measurable business performance.
- Serve as primary client contact, managing and deepening client relationships.
- Lead work that is recognized internally and externally for innovation, impact, and design quality.
- Mentor and grow talent, fostering expertise across architecture, interiors, brand design, and experience strategy.
- Recruit top talent to support the growth and evolution of the practice.
- Demonstrated success leading high-profile retail, consumer experience, or brand-driven environment projects and securing work through direct client engagement.
- Proven ability to generate revenue, grow a practice, and position a brand at the top of the market.
- Experience in brand translation and delivering scalable formats across markets and categories.
- Strong knowledge of European retail and development landscapes, including relationships with key players in retail, real estate, and planning.
- Ability to balance creative vision with commercial acumen, ensuring experiences deliver both emotional resonance and measurable ROI.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills, with the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships internally and externally.
