Role Overview
Gensler’s Birmingham office is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join our team.
The role requires Revit capabilities and responsibility for initiating technical solutions that meet client and design briefs.
What You Will Do
- Tap into creativity to design unique professional environments, providing technical support for completion and execution of projects across all stages.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, working with the team to design and deliver major projects for professional and financial service companies and other corporates, including architecture and interior design projects.
- Design and deliver workplace and lifestyle design projects.
- Manage the entire project lifecycle: estimating, bidding, project kick‑off, weekly coordination, punch/snagging lists, turnover, opening, and project close‑out.
- Support communication between the project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials.
- Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges.
- Maintain the project manual and specifications.
- Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFIs during construction.
- Maintain a proactive, problem‑solving attitude and work closely with the wider consultancy team to develop innovative technical design solutions.
Qualifications
- An undergraduate or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
- Minimum 10 years post‑qualification professional work experience.
- Experience in project leadership, excellent client liaison, and team management skills.
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents.
- Proficiency in Revit (preferred).
- Experience with the full project lifecycle.
- Understanding of building construction and ability to create technical documents that succinctly describe the work to be done.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship‑management skills.
