Gen Phoenix is making material circularity possible at epic scale – rescuing over 10,000 tonnes of leather waste and creating premium sustainable materials trusted by global brands like Coach, Dr. Martens, and Daimler. Now we need a passionate leather technologist to help us push the boundaries of what\’s possible.

Your innovation playground:

  • Develop cutting-edge tanning recipes to improve product performance in our lab and pilot plant
  • Lead new product development projects for consumer markets from concept to full-scale manufacture
  • Apply your wet end leather chemistry and finishing expertise to groundbreaking sustainable materials
  • Work hands-on with formulation and application testing at the forefront of leather technology
  • Collaborate with global brands on next-generation sustainable leather solutions
  • Transfer innovative materials and processes into commercial production

You bring:

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a tannery or with a leather chemical supplier
  • Strong knowledge of wet end leather chemicals, processes, and/or leather coatings and finishes
  • Bachelor\’s degree in Leather Technology, Materials Science, Textile Chemistry, or related field
  • Familiarity with leather testing standards
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Project management abilities and collaborative mindset
  • Experience with luxury leather goods or footwear (desirable)

Location: Peterborough, PE7 3HH, UK

Travel: Approximately 10% of working time
