Role Purpose
As the Lead Data Manager, you are the engine behind our data ecosystem. You will lead the identification, acquisition, and curation of high‑quality data for our SaaS platform, Mystra. You will bridge Science and Engineering, serving as the Product Owner for data management tooling, ensuring our infrastructure scales alongside our genomic strategy. You aren’t just managing data; you are governing the highly personal information that drives scientific discovery.
A Day in the Life
- Data Acquisition: You will research and secure new genomic data opportunities that align with our business needs.
- Technical Execution: You might write a Python script to pull data from a GWAS or integrate metadata from disparate systems into our cloud architecture.
- Governance & Privacy: You will act as the "gatekeeper," evaluating complex datasets for licensing issues and ensuring privacy standards (TREs) are met before they reach our customers.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: You’ll partner with stakeholders to bridge the gap between to ensure seamless ingestion.
Who You Are
You have proven experience with global bodies such as UK Biobank, DB GAP, or EGA, and a deep understanding of data modelling and governance. You possess an "investigatory" mindset, able to look at a dataset and identify potential privacy or licensing roadblocks before they become issues. You are highly skilled in Python and understand the nuances of compute architecture and cloud systems. You hold a PhD in a genomic discipline (or equivalent industry experience) and can "speak the language" of Stat Gen and Bioinformatics.
