Overview
We are hiring a Genome Analyst to support the Diagnostic Discovery initiative at Genomics England. Diagnostic Discovery focuses on analysis of whole genome sequencing (WGS) data to increase diagnostic yield for individuals enrolled in Genomics England\’s research programmes, at the intersection of research and clinical practice with a focus on variant interpretation and genomic data analysis in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Review variants identified through research analysis of Genomics England data to support Diagnostic Discovery.
- Assess gene/variant associations with rare disorders to guide Diagnostic Discovery analyses.
- Design and perform customized analyses of Genomics England data.
- Critically assess outputs of internally developed analyses to drive improvements.
- Support the review of rare disorder research findings identified through Genomics England Research Network members and Discovery Forum.
- Undertake whole genome or exome sequencing analyses and interpret genomic data in relation to rare disorders within a research setting, with an understanding of the clinical impact of these analyses.
Qualifications
- Research experience related to rare conditions with the ability to demonstrate the skills and experience necessary to excel in the role of Genome Analyst.
- Experience in a role involving whole genome or exome sequencing analyses and interpretation of genomic data in relation to rare disorders within a research setting.
- Detailed knowledge of human genomics, with a focus on rare disorders. MSc/PhD in a relevant discipline preferred.
Opportunity & Working Model
Genomics England partners with the NHS to provide whole genome sequencing diagnostics and supports researchers to find causes of disease and develop new treatments, with patients and participants at the heart of it all. The organisation operates a blended working model with flexible patterns; most staff are expected to come into the office a minimum of 2 times per month, with variations by role. Office locations: Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
Salary
Salary from: £47,500
