Genomics England partners with the NHS to provide whole genome sequencing diagnostics. We also equip researchers to find the causes of disease and develop new treatments – with patients and participants at the heart of it all.

We are seeking a Deputy Service Owner to help lead and improve how our service operates day to day to support the delivery of the Generation Study.
The Generation Study is a world leading study looking at whether we can improve the diagnosis and treatment of rare conditions through using whole genome sequencing to screen for rare conditions.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Service Owner and Tribe Leader to keep a clear view of how the service is running and help solve any issues that arise.
You will collaborate with a diverse group including product managers, delivery leads, engineers, designers, clinicians, scientists, and logistics specialists.
Your focus will be on making sure the service stays relevant to users, runs smoothly, and adapts to change, whilst building strong operational processes and maintaining trusted relationships with key stakeholders so we can ensure successful delivery of the Generation Study.
This role is based on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Everyday responsibilities include:
- Support, create and execute solid operational processes to ensure delivery of the newborns service to enable effective delivery of the Generation Study.
- Ensure that the Service Owner and Tribe Leader (Senior Responsible Officer) have full visibility of the health of all activities required in running and expanding the service to help the Generation study scale and deliver on time.
- Surface dependencies and blockers between the squads and teams and ensure hands-on work with individual teams to support resolution of issues.
- Work with the Programme Manager and Project Coordinator to ensure that operational risks are understood and tracked appropriately, and that reasonable mitigations can be put in place.
- Carry out data analysis to look for trends where we can make improvements and resolve issues and improve ways of working within the service and with other teams in GEL, or with our external stakeholders as required.
- Working with Operational Lead to ensure SOPs are embedded across the service and regularly reviewed and updated.
- Support the Clinical Director to embed appropriate quality processes into BAU.
- Work closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Service Owner, Programme Manager and Clinical Director as part of the Programme Leadership Team.
- Manage output of prioritisation process to ensure requests from our stakeholders are appropriately delivered according to priorities.
- Provide support for internal and external meetings including logistics, writing minutes, tracking of actions and development of presentation materials as required.

Qualifications are desirable for this role, however we are more interested in real world experience.
Salary from: £63,000

For this role we require the successful candidate to travel to our London office 1 day per week minimum.
