Job Description

Job Summary/Experience:

Genome Therapeutics Ltd (GTx) is seeking an industry experienced cancer biologist, with lab based experience in pre-clinical drug discovery, to lead mechanism and genomic biomarker development for novel therapeutics exploiting G-quadruplex binding molecules. The candidate will have a PhD in cancer biology and 10 years or more of relevant experience, with background knowledge/experience of DNA damage and genome instability mechanisms. The ideal candidate will have experience of line management and experience in the design and execution of hypothesis testing experiments using state of the art microscopy, molecular biology and genomics based methods.  Previous experience of biomarker co-development will be an advantage.

GTx is a fast paced multidisciplinary company, offering training and experience in genomics, computational biology, early drug discovery and clinical studies.

Location: This is an on-site position based at the GTx labs in Cambridge UK.

Essential Skills/Experience:

●     A PhD with experience in cancer biology and relevant experience in the DNA damage/genome instability, or genomic biomarker development.

●     Previous experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, especially within oncology.

●     Leadership in the design of cell and molecular biology studies to support biomarker development and mechanism of action.

●     Leadership in the design and execution of biomarker target validation experiments in PDXO and PDX systems in the lab and with external providers.

●     Identification and engagement of key opinion leader external collaborations as needed to achieve project goals.

●     Establishment of strategic internal resources such as internal isogenic and cell line backgrounds for screens

●     Design of functional genetics strategies such as combinatorial CRISPR screens, for target credentialing in cancer models

●     Self-sufficiency in basic computational/statistical analysis of experimental data

●     Record and analyze experimental data accurately and efficiently, maintaining detailed records and documentation.

●     Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

●     Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

●     Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

●     Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.

●     Commitment to upholding quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

●     Proficiency in statistical/computational analysis of chemical and functional screen data to be self-sufficient in interpretation.

●     Experience with tumour model systems, including isogenic knockouts, organoids and/or PDX systems.

●     Experience in the design and use of CRISPR functional genetics screening approaches and chemical library screening approaches will be an advantage.
