THE ROLE: The role is the in-country People team representative for Genius working with colleagues and managers across the entire employee lifecycle focused on operational excellence, compliance, engagement and wellbeing. You are one of several People Operations Managers who work together with the wider People team as we cultivate a 'one Genius' philosophy, layering over your subject matter expertise of the UK cultural and legislative landscape on all aspects of the People experience.

Main responsibilities:

  • Operational delivery excellence: As the custodian of the People team in the UK, the role is responsible for the end-to-end operational delivery of the employment experience; onboarding, payroll, benefits, management of the company's cyclical processes (e.g., pay review, performance management) working with colleagues and managers on all aspects of delivering these.
  • Payroll and Benefits: Day to day responsibility for the successful onboarding, payroll processing and benefits enrolment, working with our payroll and benefits providers and finance colleagues on the delivery of this cyclical process.
  • People Processes and Controls: This role has two focuses in this regard; firstly, ensuring compliance with internal policies, external regulations and controls are met. The second aspect involves working with key stakeholders (e.g., finance, systems teams) to develop new ways of working that may be more effective and appropriate to our size.
  • People Policies: Contributing to the development of Genius's People policies and ensuring appropriate applications of these. Providing market insight about what will help us maintain a competitive edge, to shape our policy design.
  • Engagement, performance and culture: Working in partnership with the wider People team as appropriate, support our managers in developing their management capability and effectively leading their teams to drive sustainable high performance. Coach and advise managers and staff to improve performance and deal with any issues. Help articulate and embed ‘how things get done around here’ and continue to evaluate how we evolve this as the business grows organically and inorganically. Work towards local initiatives to drive employee engagement, talent retention, and learning and development.
  • Employee relations: Handle individual and collective employee relations issues in a practical and legally compliant way. This could involve anything from helping resolve informal disciplinary and grievance matters, through to absence management, termination of employment, and ultimately managing aspects of major ER programs (e.g., organisational response to Covid-19, future of work).
  • Data, Systems & Documentation: Take ownership of UK People data integrity, ensure it’s clean and regularly updated, and coach local stakeholders on using it effectively (e.g., to help analyse trends in sick pay, absence rates, leavers, engagement etc). Lead effective use of Workday and other HR systems within user groups. Own local People documents developing a Genius tone in conjunction with internal comms, across our population regularly reviewing and updating as appropriate in line with business needs. Document and process joiners, leavers and job changes.
  • Projects & Programmes: Act as the People team lead on UK orientated programmes such as payroll governance programmes, benefits renewals, M&A integrations of UK based acquisitions, global engagement campaigns (e.g., D&I, mental health awareness).

Key stakeholders: Managers and leaders (based in both UK and in other regions where line management is cross border), People Partnering team, Regional finance team, Employment counsel, Reward, Talent Acquisition, Training and Development, People Policy & Process and People Systems and Data leads.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING: We are looking for a proactive HR operator with the following experiences:

  • Ownership of People Operations processes in a global organisation.
  • Proven experience in a fast paced, maturing organisation.
  • Working with managers to troubleshoot and develop pragmatic solutions to People related matters.
  • End to end experience of the People operations lifecycle (e.g., onboarding, managing payroll, benefits, job changes).
  • Experience working as part of a global HR team would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of working with HRIS systems (Workday preferred).
  • Excellent relationship building – a team player with credibility and a sense of humour. Your ability to effectively work with and gain the trust of stakeholders.
  • Awareness of country specific nuances, working with people teams on the ground and as necessary, legal counsel to understand legislative and cultural backdrops in order to develop pragmatic approaches and solutions.
  • Experience working with diverse workforces within one organisation and an appreciation of differing motivators that may exist within cohorts.

IT WILL BE A BONUS IF YOU:

  • Have a passion for operational excellence and engagement creating great employee and manager experiences through utilisation of technology.
  • Are approachable and credible with colleagues at all levels.
  • Have an eye for detail and organisation.
  • Have strong communication skills: clear, accurate and engaging, both verbally and in writing.
  • Versatile in your approach, able to deal with a range of smart stakeholders with their own needs.
  • Exemplify the values set out in our Genius Sports ‘GamePlan’: always be on the ball (think big, and get stuck in); play fair, play to win (do the right thing, and go fast/aim high); and believe in better together (express yourself, and win as a team).
  • Have a collaborative approach - thrives in working with wider People team members to deliver effective People interventions.

We enjoy an ‘office-first’ culture and maximize opportunities to collaborate, connect and learn together. Our hybrid working models differ depending on your role and location.
