Job Overview

As a Client Strategy Director, you are the senior commercial authority and the ultimate strategic anchor for your Tier 1 client portfolio. You are your clients' champion, taking complete ownership of their overall happiness, forging unbreakable partnerships, and guiding their overarching narrative so they have 'no reason to look anywhere else.' You are not a 'doer' of daily platform tasks. Instead, you leverage deep empathy and exceptional people skills to deeply understand their business objectives, leading the strategic roadmapping and crafting bold, cross-channel strategies. By commanding the room and filtering the noise, you ensure the technical team delivers exceptional results that drive your clients' growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • High-Level Strategy & Big Picture Thinking
  • Industry-Leading Strategy for our Tier 1 clients: Autonomously, lead the development of industry-leading, bold, and innovative cross-channel digital marketing strategies, deeply understanding client objectives, targets, and performance to drive their success.
  • Pioneer New Opportunities and ways of working: Our top tier clients are often our first step into new platforms, channels and innovations. Spearhead testing and innovation with support from the Heads of Channel in order to build agency case studies to roll out across our wider client portfolio.
  • Channel-Agnostic Gap Evaluation: Operate entirely 'channel agnostic' to deliver true Big Picture Thinking. Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends and market insights, proactively identifying their impact on client strategies, and collaborate with Heads of Channel to refine and innovate channel-specific strategies.
  • Curating the Narrative: Take absolute ownership of digesting and curating the reporting narrative. You must translate the data and methodologies provided by the Innovation and Delivery Hub into a compelling, easy-to-understand commercial story that proves our value to the client.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Act as the primary strategic point of contact for resolving complex client challenges and independently leading high-level crisis management.
  • Connect the dots across the ecommerce landscape; Make use and add to the network of respected partners in the wider ecommerce space to help solve our clients challenges and upsell relevant opportunities.
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of key industry trends and market insights, proactively identifying their impact on client strategies (with data inputs from the Innovation and Delivery Hub).
  • Continuous Development: Continually build your own personal awareness, knowledge, and skills across all marketing channels (both Genie Goals offerings or otherwise) to remain at the cutting edge of the industry.
  • Cultivating Client Relationships & Stakeholder Management
  • The Ultimate Gatekeeper: Act as the strategic shield for the Innovation & Delivery Hub. You must confidently set and hold clear boundaries with clients to prevent scope creep, ensuring all technical requests are translated into crystal-clear briefs and formally signed off before execution begins.
  • One clear view; Be the clients’ eyes at Genie Goals - ensure they have full visibility of their roadmap, their deliverables and their performance.
  • Empathetic Stakeholder Management: Apply exceptional people skills, deep empathy, and active listening to truly "put yourself in others' shoes" during client interactions.
  • Commanding the Room & Meeting Management: Chair key client meetings and Strategic Business Reviews as the independent, senior Genie Goals representative.
  • A ‘Chameleon Consultant’: As the commercial strategic consultant for our clients, you are able to transfer and adapt your strategic thinking across all verticals and industries.
  • Build unbreakable relationships: Accompany clients to Genie Goals events and face to face events and meetings ensuring they feel like Genie VIPs and that we are a true extension of their team.
  • Supercharge the Supply Chain: Teamwork with the Innovation & Delivery Hub and the Heads of Channels is essential in a supply chain which works like clockwork.
  • ‘Kaizan’: Proactively identify bottlenecks and implement solutions in order to make it easier to deliver exceptional service to our clients.
  • Commercial Ownership & Growth
  • Portfolio Revenue & Scope Protection: Hold accountability for the top-line revenue and commercial health of your portfolio.
  • Commercial Negotiation & Upselling: Accountable for pricing, contract negotiation, and actively identifying upsell/commercial opportunities to increase client ‘stickiness’ and overall portfolio value.
  • High-Stakes Account Leadership: Acting entirely independently, you apply your senior experience and authority to manage a strategically balanced portfolio.
  • New Business Leadership: Support New Business by leading the strategic elements of high-level pitch proposals and forging key industry partnerships.
  • Optimise performance through bold creative strategies
  • Clear creative direction evolving with the brand at heart: Balance brand objectives and performance best practice to advise clients with a clear strategy which evolves with evolution and innovation in the platforms’ ecosystems.
  • Strategic Concepting & Brand Translation: You'll take the client's overall brand message and translate it into brilliant, high-level strategic concepts.
  • Collaborating on Testing Roadmaps: You'll share ownership of the creative testing roadmap with our Innovation team.
  • Concept Curation & Feedback: Think of yourself as the strategic filter for the Innovation & Delivery Hub.
  • Strategic Creative Reviews: You'll run engaging creative strategy sessions with client stakeholders.
  • Finger on the pulse of what makes a winning creative: Keep up to date on what makes the most compelling creative on all platforms.
  • Agency Contribution & Compliance
  • Embody the Genie Behaviours: Embody the Genie Goals Behaviours, particularly Be Authoritative, But Always With Respect.
  • One Genie: as the client lead, you need to know when to take the call and when to seek collective wisdom.
  • Operational Accountability: Ensure you accurately record your time in Scoro and that the strategic direction you set strictly aligns with client SLAs to protect agency profitability.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all GV guidelines for security, data protection, and GDPR compliance.
