Geneva Trading, a global trading firm, is seeking a Desktop Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all support-related inquiries and requests from our traders, technical teams, and corporate staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily technical support to all levels of the business, including proprietary applications used by our traders.
  • Provide hands-on face-to-face trader desktop support.
  • Conduct performance testing on workstations and server hardware.
  • Tune the systems for optimal performance and document the results.
  • Partner with the IT Support team for both on-site, hands-on hardware support and remote workstations.
  • Handle IT ordering, receiving, tracking, and inventory management.
  • Support Windows desktop systems, including but not limited to PC/server HW/OS builds, software updates, upgrades, permissions.
  • Lead new hire onboarding and provisioning.
  • Monitor and respond to all ticket requests and escalate to the appropriate department when necessary.
  • Maintain good documentation.
  • Manage global server replacements.
  • Use automation tools, Python, Bash, PowerShell, and other scripting tools.
  • Develop dashboards using Splunk, Zabbix, Grafana, etc.
  • Liaise with third parties to resolve issues.
  • Support corporate MS Teams phone system and conference rooms.
  • Identify and troubleshoot trade breaks, data discrepancies, and other operational or system-related problems.
  • Provide support for trading applications, assist with system testing and deployments, and help manage infrastructure changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Networking, or similar field of study.
  • 2+ years of experience with desktop support and troubleshooting systems in a financial services environment.
  • Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience with Win10 Administration and troubleshooting, Office 365, AD/LDAP.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, WIFI, and VPN service.
  • Prior scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, Linux CLI, or Bash.
  • Exposure to Splunk, Zabbix, and other monitoring and analytics tools.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (JIRA) and wiki tools (Confluence).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is critical for ensuring data accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well independently or in a team and prioritise projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of pride and ownership in work product.
  • Deep hardware experience.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call support rotation.
  • Ability to lift to 20kgs and willing to physically support desk builds.
  • Ability to work on site in our London office 5 days a week.
  • Ability to work an early shift covering from 0600am UK time.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule outside of normal business hours when needed.
  • Knowledge of AI tools for continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of various asset classes and financial products, such as equities, fixed income, and derivatives is a plus.
