This role partners closely with the Director of Technical Revenue Accounting and cross-functional teams (Revenue Operations, Deal Desk, Sales, Legal, IT, and Strategic Finance) to evaluate and document non-standard transactions, translating accounting policy into practical guidance, taking into consideration system configurations and how revenue is recognized across a growing SaaS business.
The Manager plays a critical role in scaling technical accounting support across deal cycles, audit readiness, and cross-functional coordination. At Genesys, this work directly supports the accuracy and integrity of revenue reporting while enabling the business to bring innovative offerings to market with confidence. You will operate at the center of technical accounting, deal enablement, and process design, with visibility into enterprise-wide initiatives and the opportunity to drive continuous improvement across systems, controls, and policies.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
- Support the team in maintaining and operationalizing Genesys Revenue and Accounting policies in compliance with ASC 606 and US GAAP requirements, including translating policy into practical guidance and identifying areas for enhancement.
- Translate changes in accounting standards, interpretations, and business practices into updated policies and practical operating procedures.
- Evaluate new products, business models, and contract structures, then translate accounting conclusions into clear, operational guidance for downstream teams.
- Develop and maintain process documentation for accounting memorandums, ensuring documentation is audit-ready and aligned with Company policy.
- Coordinate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and year-end audits, including discussing technical revenue accounting issues.
- Strengthen month-end and quarter-end close activities by supporting financial reporting for complex deals and ensuring accounting outcomes are complete and well documented.
- Partner with Deal Desk, Sales, Product, Legal, and Finance to assess revenue implications of complex transactions and support timely deal execution.
- Perform and review detailed technical accounting analyses on complex and financially significant arrangements and calculate and determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Review contract assessments, revenue calculations, and memos prepared by junior team members to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to policy.
- Provide ongoing feedback, coaching and guidance to improve the quality and efficiency of team deliverables and support the development of team members.
- Identify and implement opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability across revenue accounting processes.
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled tools for contract analysis, memo drafting, and deal review support across the team.
- Remain flexible and responsive to evolving priorities, taking on additional responsibilities as business needs change.
Requirements
Minimum of 6 years of relevant accounting experience with hands-on SaaS/technology experience; prior public accounting / Big 4 experience strongly preferred. Deep knowledge and technical understanding of Software Revenue Recognition Accounting — ASC 606 in SaaS business models, with experience in revenue memo writing or evaluation. Confidence and proven ability to communicate both orally and in writing, including the dissemination of technical information. Ability to interact effectively with Sales and Product teams, functional peer groups and team members, and to gain cooperation from others, especially those in other departments, as well as with outside auditors and outside legal counsel. Ability to thrive in a rapidly growing and fast-paced global environment, including working effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across different locations and time zones. Ability to work independently and take ownership of multiple concurrent and diversified tasks while working to deadlines. Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with a practical solutions orientation and excellent attention to detail.
Desirable Skills
