The Role:
As a Principal Pharmacist – Cellular Therapies and Haematology with us, you'll play a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) and haematology services across GenesisCare UK. You will act as the key pharmacy liaison, supporting the safe introduction of innovative therapies, developing competencies and training programmes, and ensuring robust clinical governance across these specialist areas. Please note that while this position is home-based, it is a national role and the successful candidate will be required to travel to our UK network of centres on a weekly basis around business needs, so a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for the role. The position is full-time (37.5 hours, Mon-Fri) and available on a 12-month fixed term contract basis.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the development and implementation of pharmacy services for cellular therapies and haematology, including ATMPs such as CAR-T and related services like apheresis.
- Act as the subject matter expert for pharmacy in cellular therapies, representing GenesisCare at internal and external forums.
- Develop and implement pharmacy policies, procedures, and governance frameworks for ATMPs and haematology services.
- Design and deliver training programmes and competency frameworks for pharmacy teams in collaboration with the Education and Training Lead.
- Support the introduction of new therapies through horizon scanning, feasibility assessments, and service development initiatives.
- Provide clinical governance oversight, including audits, risk assessments, and compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinical directors, service development, and pharmacy leadership to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
- Support the introduction and management of aseptic compounding and reconstitution services across the organisation.
- Contribute to clinical trials setup and delivery within haematology and cellular therapies.
- Drive continuous improvement through audit, innovation, and service development activities.
What You'll Have:
- MPharm or BPharm degree and registration with the GPhC.
- Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or a specialist area (or equivalent experience).
- Extensive post-qualification experience in secondary care, with significant expertise in haematology and/or advanced therapies.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing ATMP or specialised pharmacy services.
- Extensive experience in clinical leadership, training, and competency development.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, audit, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working with electronic prescribing systems and SACT protocols.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and lead complex projects.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle to aid national travel.
