As the Medical Governance Manager with us, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation meets the requirements of the Medical Practitioners Assurance Framework (MPAF) and maintains robust governance systems relating to medical practitioners.
Working closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Head of Quality, you will oversee governance processes linked to practising privileges, scope of practice, appraisal oversight and clinical performance monitoring. What You'll Do
- Lead organisational compliance with the Medical Practitioners Assurance Framework (MPAF).
- Oversee the full practising privileges lifecycle, including application, review, restriction and withdrawal.
- Ensure governance systems align with GMC Good Medical Practice and regulatory standards.
- Act as the central liaison between the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), Chief Medical Officer and governance teams.
- Monitor and analyse medical performance and clinical quality data, providing assurance to senior leadership.
- Ensure appraisal outcomes and governance information inform practising privilege decisions.
- Manage the identification and investigation of clinical practice or conduct concerns where required.
- Provide oversight of governance processes linked to consultant practice including consent, MDT outcomes and clinical audits.
- Promote a culture of professional accountability, continuous improvement and patient safety.
- Build strong relationships with consultants, centre leaders and operational teams to support consistent governance standards.
What You'll Have
- Experience managing medical governance or clinical governance systems.
- Experience administering practising privileges and scope of practice frameworks.
- Strong understanding of MPAF, GMC Good Medical Practice and CQC regulatory expectations.
- Experience supporting Responsible Officer or medical appraisal processes.
- Knowledge of clinical audit and governance reporting frameworks.
- Ability to interpret and analyse clinical quality, performance and safety data.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior clinicians.
- Degree-level education in healthcare, governance or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a complex healthcare environment.
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive governance matters.
- This role require travel to support business needs. The postholder must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
