Main duties of the job:
- As the Lead SACT Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing our chemotherapy service while delivering advanced, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment.
- You will provide specialist clinical leadership, manage resources effectively and ensure a consistently high standard of care across the service.
- Working closely with consultants, pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will oversee safe chemotherapy delivery, coordinate nurse-led clinics and maintain excellence in patient experience.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead the safe and effective delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), ensuring high standards of evidence-based care.
- Manage a patient caseload, coordinating assessments, care plans and treatment pathways.
- Demonstrate advanced clinical competence in chemotherapy administration, IV access, central venous catheter management, and the management of complications including anaphylaxis and extravasation.
- Provide clinical leadership to Senior SACT Nurses and Healthcare Assistants, supporting professional development and performance.
- Oversee nurse-led clinics and collaborate closely with consultants and pharmacists.
- Lead on policy development, clinical governance and compliance with CQC standards.
- Promote clinical audit, service evaluation and evidence-based practice.
- Participate in the 24-hour on-call rota to provide out-of-hours patient triage and support.
- Ensure accurate documentation, informed consent processes and clear communication with patients and families.
- Foster a culture of compassion, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Participation in QI projects using quality improvement tools.
What You’ll Have:
- NMC Level 1 or Level 2 Registered Nurse.
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, with significant oncology and chemotherapy expertise.
- Hold or be willing to work towards a UKONS SACT Passport.
- Proven experience in clinical leadership and service development.
- Experience working within private healthcare (desirable).
- Strong understanding of governance, safeguarding and risk management.
- Confidence managing complex patient situations and communicating with sensitivity.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and revalidation requirements.
