As our Lead Physicist, you will act as the on-site Medical Physics Expert (MPE), overseeing all radiotherapy physics activity within our Maidstone centre. You will have scientific and technical responsibility for treatment planning, patient dosimetry, quality assurance (QA), calibration of equipment and ongoing optimisation of our radiotherapy service. Working closely with our radiographers, oncologists and wider clinical teams, your expertise will ensure safe, effective and exceptional patient care. You’ll also collaborate with regional MPEs across GenesisCare and help drive innovation and service improvements across the UK network.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the site Medical Physics Expert (MPE) and lead all aspects of radiotherapy physics
  • Provide technical oversight of treatment planning and patient dosimetry, performing planning and checking when required
  • Lead calibration and QA of the Linac, imaging equipment and dosimetry devices, ensuring all activity meets regulatory and GenesisCare standards
  • Review and train clinical staff in machine QA, dosimetry, treatment planning and checking
  • Support troubleshooting and maintenance, liaising with engineers and assisting with out-of-hours issues where necessary to minimise service disruption
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects across the physics and dosimetry function

What you’ll bring:

  • Extensive clinical experience as a Radiotherapy Physicist, recognised as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) under IRR2017 (or working toward status)
  • Strong experience in Linac QA and dose calibration
  • Experience in advanced IMRT/VMAT planning and plan checking (Pinnacle and Mosaiq desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills, able to educate, influence and support colleagues across disciplines
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in Radiotherapy/Medical Physics (or working toward – suitable candidates considered individually)
