As a Lead Physicist, you will play a pivotal role as the Medical Physics Expert (MPE) on site, ensuring the safe, effective, and high-quality delivery of radiotherapy services. This is a unique opportunity to take scientific and technical leadership within a highly specialised service, contributing directly to patient care while shaping service development and innovation.
What You’ll Do- Act as the Radiotherapy Medical Physics Expert (MPE) on site, supporting all aspects of treatment delivery
- Provide scientific and technical oversight for treatment planning and patient dosimetry
- Lead on Linac calibration and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with national standards
- Oversee and deliver radiotherapy QA across all treatment and imaging equipment (including CT/MR and IGRT systems)
- Collaborate closely with radiographers, oncologists, and clinical teams to ensure safe and effective patient pathways
- Support and train clinical staff in dosimetry, QA, and treatment planning processes
- Manage and liaise with engineers regarding equipment maintenance, servicing, and downtime
- Contribute to service development and innovation, improving planning techniques, QA processes, and efficiency
- Maintain robust documentation and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Participate in wider GenesisCare physics and dosimetry initiatives across the UK network
- Extensive clinical experience as a Radiotherapy Physicist, operating at Medical Physics Expert (MPE) level
- Strong expertise in Linac QA, calibration, and dosimetry
- Experience in IMRT/VMAT planning and plan checking
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to train, mentor, and influence multidisciplinary teams
- Confidence engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist (Radiotherapy)
- Recognised Medical Physics Expert (MPE) status (or working towards, considered case-by-case)
- Experience with Varian LINACs, Eclipse TPS, and ARIA
- Knowledge of IGRT, SABR, MRI, 4DCT, and advanced techniques
- Experience in the UK private healthcare sector
