We’re looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract, playing a key role in getting our new centre ready for opening and supporting it through its first year of operation.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved from the outset, helping commission and establish the technology environment that will support our clinical and operational teams. From technology readiness and go-live through to providing ongoing onsite support once the centre is operational, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact during a significant period of growth for GenesisCare in Leeds.
As our IT Support Engineer, you’ll be the primary onsite technology specialist for the Leeds centre, providing first and second-line technical support and ensuring our digital and technology services operate reliably and effectively to support the safe delivery of patient care.
Initially, you’ll have an important role in preparing the new centre for opening, supporting equipment deployment, infrastructure validation, device installation and configuration, user acceptance and go-live. As the centre becomes established, you’ll provide hands-on day-to-day support across end-user devices, Microsoft 365, workplace and meeting-room technology, infrastructure and specialist clinical systems.
You’ll work closely with centre leadership and clinical teams alongside our central Digital & IT colleagues and third-party suppliers, taking ownership of local technology issues and coordinating with specialist teams where required.
What You’ll Do
- Support the technology readiness, commissioning and successful opening of our brand-new Leeds centre.
- Provide first and second-line onsite technical support across clinical and business operations.
- Act as the primary onsite escalation point for technology incidents, taking ownership through to resolution.
- Deploy, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.
- Troubleshoot Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Support workplace technology including Microsoft Teams Rooms, AV equipment, displays, cameras, printers and connectivity.
- Provide onsite technology support within our specialist oncology environment, working with clinical system suppliers and specialist support teams where required.
- Assist central infrastructure teams with local networking, Wi-Fi, structured cabling, network patching, internet connectivity and telephony.
- Maintain accurate technology asset, stock and service management records.
- Support cybersecurity requirements including endpoint compliance, Microsoft Defender, BitLocker, Multi-Factor Authentication and vulnerability remediation.
- Coordinate onsite activity with technology suppliers, managed service providers and other third-party partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve service quality, automation and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to wider Digital Transformation initiatives and the introduction of new technology across GenesisCare.
What You’ll Have
- 3–5 years’ experience in an IT Support Engineer, Desktop Support or similar technical support role.
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
- Strong hardware troubleshooting and break/fix experience.
- Good knowledge of networking fundamentals.
- Experience supporting meeting-room and workplace technology.
- Experience using an ITSM/service management platform.
- Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working independently within an onsite support role, with the confidence to take ownership of local technology issues.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- A relevant IT qualification or equivalent professional experience.
Experience within a healthcare, hospital or clinical environment would be advantageous, particularly experience supporting clinical systems, oncology or radiotherapy technology, or PACS/DICOM environments. Experience with technologies such as PowerShell, VMware, Fortinet or Halo ITSM would also be beneficial.
As this role will support our new centre through commissioning, opening and its first year of operation, you’ll need to be based onsite in Leeds full-time, with flexibility to provide occasional out-of-hours support during key technology implementations, upgrades and commissioning activity. Occasional travel to other GenesisCare sites may also be required.
