The Role
As a Senior Regional MR‑Linac Therapy Radiographer with us, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting MR‑Linac based radiotherapy across your region and occasionally across the rest of the UK network. You will be responsible for stepping into centres to support treatment, pre‑treatment, as well as the training & delivery of complex treatments such as adaptive SABR. You will support the pathway of every patient receiving external beam radiotherapy in the centres you attend and assist the Lead Therapy Radiographers/Centre Leader with maintaining their radiotherapy service. Please note that this is a regional role, and daily travel to centres across the network will be required in line with business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Rotate across all radiotherapy treatment units across your region or occasionally across the UK network.
- Support the MR‑Linac based service, assisting the Principal Radiographers to provide training and on‑site support for SABR and adaptive treatments.
- Liaise closely with Radiotherapy Radiography team/Lead Physicist and Senior Dosimetrist on site/ Diagnostic Radiographer/ Senior Nurse – Chemotherapy/Senior Nurse Outpatients/ Administration team.
- Follow all duties as a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registrant (standards of conduct, performance and ethics).
- Follow all HCPC standards of proficiency.
- Follow clinical protocols, policies and procedures at all times and operate in full compliance and maintain safe and effective working practices at all times, including the operation of equipment and systems in use within the centre in accordance with radiation regulations and quality assurance requirements ensuring that more junior radiographers also do.
- Ensure that all patients experience the highest levels of service at all times, in line with the agreed expectations for treatment within GenesisCare centres.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of patient treatments at all times, in line with the agreed processes within GenesisCare.
- Participate and assist in clinical audit, in line with the agreed processes within GenesisCare.
- Thoroughly record compliments alongside incidents and complaints and assist in proper investigation at all times ensuring that necessary safeguards are taken to prevent recurrence.
- Be aware of the close working relationship with external partners/service providers at all times and the requirement to comply with their policies accordingly.
- Work closely with colleagues to support the on‑going improvement and continuous development of the care and services provided across GenesisCare and to promote the on‑going success of the company.
- To adhere to all HCPC standards.
- Pro‑actively maintain own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with GenesisCare and HCPC professional standards.
- Occasionally work out of hours in order to ensure that breakdowns or crises are resolved with minimum impact to service and treatments from time to time.
- Adhere to company standards in respect of appearance, behaviour and demeanour at all times.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate for a post of this nature.
Experience and Skills
- Able to demonstrate post qualification experience
- Experience and understanding of UK radiotherapy techniques and legislation
- Previous experience within all aspects of radiotherapy; quality assurance, pre‑treatment and treatment
- Previous experience of MR‑Linac and/or adaptive SABR treatments – advantageous
- Evidence of effective staff liaison and co‑operative working
- Evidence of empathetic and a holistic approach to patient care
- Previous experience working in private health sector – advantageous
- Prior experience with resolving complaints satisfactorily
- Experience of proactively evolving radiotherapy techniques
- A range of radiotherapy clinical skills
- Evidence of effective organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong relationship building skills
- Able to make independent judgments/decisions, ability to solve problems
- Ability to work flexibly to achieve GenesisCare business objectives
Qualifications and Knowledge
- DCR (T) or BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy (or equivalent)
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development
