Are you ready to lead on the frontier of MR-guided radiotherapy? Join us at our brand-new oncology centre in Guildford, where innovation meets compassionate care. This is your opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of adaptive MR-Linac radiotherapy, transforming patient outcomes through precision and collaboration.
As our Lead Physicist – MR Linac, you’ll be the on-site Medical Physics Expert (MPE), taking scientific and technical responsibility for all radiotherapy services related to our cutting-edge MRIdian MR Linac. Collaborating closely with our multidisciplinary team, you will support daily adapted MR-guided treatments and ensure the highest standards in patient dosimetry, quality assurance, and treatment planning.
From overseeing complex QA protocols to contributing to research, service development and commissioning of future MR-Linac centres, this role offers the scope to lead, innovate, and shape the future of cancer care at GenesisCare.
What You\’ll Do
- Provide scientific and technical oversight of MR-Linac radiotherapy treatments, planning, and QA on site.
- Lead daily adaptive treatments as part of a multi-disciplinary on-set team.
- Perform complex dosimetry tasks, including re-irradiation assessments, and ensure all plan reviews meet MPE standards.
- Oversee machine calibration and QA activities in line with national standards, supporting imaging systems including CT and MR.
- Manage MR-Linac maintenance and liaise with engineers to minimise service downtime.
- Train and mentor local clinical staff in QA, planning, and treatment delivery techniques.
- Support cross-site MR-Linac services and contribute to future technology roll-outs across our network.
- Play a key role in research, clinical trials and contribute to scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Collaborate with oncologists, dosimetrists, radiographers and physicists to deliver safe, effective and personalised radiotherapy.
What You\’ll Have
Experience and skills:
- Significant experience as a Radiotherapy Physicist, qualified as an MPE (as defined by IRR17).
- Expert knowledge in MR-guided radiotherapy and adaptive workflows.
- Extensive experience in IMRT/VMAT planning, QA, dose calibration and patient-specific QA.
- Skilled in advanced techniques such as breath-hold gating, SRS/SABR, and 4DCT.
- Experience in research, development, and scientific publication.
- Proficiency in programming, scripting and data analysis to support clinical innovations.
- A strong communicator, able to train peers and present complex information clearly and confidently.
Qualifications And Knowledge
- Registration with the HCPC as a Clinical Scientist in Radiotherapy Physics is essential.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to work flexibly, including out-of-hours support to minimise downtime.
- Travel to support other MR-Linac centres or attend conferences, training and meetings as needed.
