We’re seeking a professional, compassionate, and highly organised Medical Receptionist to support our Lake Macquarie Oncology clinic on a part‑time basis (3 days per week). This is an excellent opportunity to join a purpose‑driven team delivering high‑quality cancer care, including radiation therapy, in Gateshead, Lake Macquarie, with the opportunity to also support our Maitland practice.
About the Role
You’ll be the welcoming face of our clinic, providing outstanding service to patients and supporting our clinical and allied health teams. In this fast‑paced environment, you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations and an exceptional patient experience.
More specifically you’ll:
- Prepare the clinic for daily operations and greet patients with professionalism and empathy
- Manage appointment bookings, confirmations, diaries, and all related administrative processes
- Receive and coordinate patient referrals, ensuring timely follow‑up and action
- Use clinic systems efficiently to manage bookings and patient information
- Provide clear information about services and support patients through their care journey
- Prepare quotations and process payments for services
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
- Represent the organisation positively and contribute to strong community relationships
We’re looking for someone with:
- Administration experience in a busy, customer‑focused environment (healthcare experience ideal)
- Experience working directly with patients, clinicians, and/or medical professionals
- Knowledge of Medicare and private health insurance billing processes (or similar)
- Experience using electronic medical record systems
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- High-level communication skills and a calm, resilient approach under pressure
- Strong computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems
- A genuine commitment to exceptional patient care and customer service
