About The Role:
The Environment and ESG Team currently has a vacancy for a Principal Environmental Engineer specialising in energy and emissions management. If you enjoy a fast-paced working environment, supporting clients with atmospherics-related compliance, and developing innovative approaches to carbon management, then we would love to hear from you.
You will work as part of a highly skilled team, working with a wide range of clients, leading on all aspects of atmospherics compliance, reporting, and assessment. The Genesis Environment Team comprises a broad range of specialists including engineers, marine biologists, chemists, acousticians, and GIS specialists.
As the Energy Transition gathers pace, we are working with our clients to manage the carbon intensity of energy provision. These new challenges are driving even closer collaboration between the engineering and environmental teams in Genesis and we are growing our existing team to support these exciting projects. Whilst predominantly focused on delivering energy and emissions management scopes, you will also have opportunities to grow your expertise in a variety of projects in the UK and overseas with a particular focus on energy efficiency, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and de-carbonisation.
The successful candidate will work within the Environment and ESG Team, interfacing with the wider Genesis organisation through interactions with other discipline teams and providing environmental technical inputs on a variety of projects for public and private clients in the UK and overseas. Provision of environmental engineering expertise with particular emphasis on emissions to air, energy management and de-carbonisation.
Responsibilities include:
- Taking a leading role managing the Team\’s Energy Management portfolio, including ISO50001, ESOS, and other energy reduction studies, and will involve managing work scopes and providing technical input and support to junior engineers.
- Working as part of a team to identify and assess opportunities for de-carbonisation including flare management, methane reduction and renewable energy options, as required.
- Involvement in managing the UK ETS portfolio.
- Interaction with clients to ensure delivery of requirements to agreed scope, schedule and budget.
- Review of engineering design documentation and drawings in support of environmental studies, as required.
- Ability to plan and lead energy / emissions management workshops.
About You – Skills and experience required:
- University degree qualified in relevant engineering or science field.
- Strong experience in a similar role, ideally with a consultative approach.
- ESOS experience, with Lead Assessor accreditation beneficial but not essential.
- Working knowledge of key atmospheric management requirements such as Emission Reduction Action Plans and OGMP2.0.
- Knowledge of industrial emissions legislation and the UK/EU Emissions Trading Scheme, with proven track record of supporting and/or leading compliance activities.
- Knowledge of environmental engineering techniques and solutions (pollution control and mitigation) preferred.
- Experience in a similar role would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Knowledge of oil and gas operations would be beneficial, but not necessary.
- Strong time-management skills and therefore good planning and organisational abilities.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Excellent written skills, with good attention to detail.
- Strong team player with excellent time management skills.
- Mentoring of less experienced team members.
- Ability to think innovatively.
- Commercial awareness.
