Senior Residential Support Worker in Gloucester

Senior Residential Support Worker in Gloucester

Gloucester Full-Time On-site
G

We are seeking an experienced Senior Therapeutic Care Worker (STCW) or a qualified Therapeutic Care Worker ready to progress into a supervisory role. This position offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives by providing compassionate, trauma-informed care within a stable and well-supported environment.

What the job is

Lead the shift

Supervise and mentor a team of care workers through the day, upholding standards of care and safeguarding and being the person the team turns to when things get difficult.

Shape the care each young person gets

Help plan and deliver individual support plans, then make sure they actually happen day to day. Work closely with the management and therapeutic teams to get the approach right.

Develop the people around you

Guide and mentor less experienced colleagues, support their training and help them grow into the role. The team you build is the care the young people receive.

Keep the home running properly

Stay on top of documentation, recording and compliance, so the home is ready for Ofsted / CQC at any point.

What we are looking for

  • A full UK manual driving licence
  • To be over 21
  • The right to work in the UK
  • A level 3 diploma in residential childcare
  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
  • Emotional resilience and a genuine commitment to safeguarding
  • The confidence to lead, guide and mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Solid written and organisational skills for documentation and compliance
  • Confidence to make decisions and hold boundaries when a shift is under pressure
  • Able to work calmly through incidents and complete accurate records afterwards
  • Able to stay warm and regulated when a young person is dysregulated

Work that genuinely changes lives

At Genesis, we give young people aged 6 to 21 something many of them have never had: a stable, nurturing home where they feel safe enough to heal. The children in our care have come through significant trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or deeply challenging circumstances - and our job is to walk alongside them as they rebuild.

Our homes sit in beautiful Gloucestershire and Worcestershire border settings, with clinical and educational expertise woven into everyday care. We also run our own specialist SEN school, so every young person gets the learning and emotional support they need to thrive.

The role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Therapeutic Care Worker - or a qualified Therapeutic Care Worker ready to step up into a supervisory role. This is a chance to lead from the front, shape the day-to-day care of young people, and make a lasting difference, all within a small, well-supported team that has your back.

What you'll be doing

  • Supervising and supporting a dedicated team of care workers
  • Leading daily routines and upholding high standards of care and safeguarding
  • Helping plan and deliver individualised support plans
  • Offering consistent emotional, social and behavioural guidance to young people
  • Working closely with our management and therapeutic teams
  • Keeping documentation up to date and supporting staff development

What we're looking for

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)
  • At least 2 years' experience in a care setting (preferred)
  • A caring, emotionally resilient nature and a genuine commitment to safeguarding
  • The confidence to lead, guide and mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Solid written and organisational skills for managing documentation and compliance
  • A valid UK manual driving licence (essential - you'll be transporting young people)
  • Availability to work flexible shifts across a 7-day rota, including weekends and sleep-ins

You might also bring:

  • Creative, practical or interpersonal skills - music, sport, DIY, IT or tutoring all add real value
  • An understanding of Ofsted or CQC expectations (training can be provided)

Whether you're already in a senior role, returning to work with care experience behind you, or simply seeking work that means something, we’d love to hear from you.

Essential criteria

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (company funded)
  • Aged 21 or over (in line with regulatory requirements)
  • Willingness to work a varied shift pattern

Why Genesis

We're a small, dedicated organisation with a strong sense of purpose and community. We value compassion, reliability and professional integrity - and we look after the people who look after our young people. If you want a role that makes a real difference, we'd encourage you to apply.
