Cost Estimator role at Genesis Energies, a global business unit of Technip Energies, providing impartial, high-value advisory services for the energy industry. Genesis develops AACEI Class 3, 4 & 5 CAPEX and ABEX estimates using in-house MTO-driven models for brownfield, greenfield, subsea and decommissioning. This is a role in a dynamic, global environment focused on the energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop AACEI Class 3, 4 & 5 CAPEX and/or ABEX estimates against tight budgets and timeframes for the energy and process industries.
  • Perform as an Estimator developing estimates of labour, costs, quantities, and scope for early project/technology development phases for locations worldwide.
  • Develop estimating scope, capture differences between competing concepts, and produce verified and benchmarked estimates.
  • Develop estimates derived from bulk material quantities, considering infrastructure, modularisation, yard fabrication, transport and installation, direct site labour, proposed constructability methods, commissioning, indirect labour, client costs, engineering and design.
  • Collaborate with project team members from all engineering and design disciplines in different locations, including project management, client reps, and third-party consultants.
  • Present and discuss cost estimates with clients to instil confidence in the completed work.
  • Write estimate plans, assemble estimate data, review estimates, and prepare a formal estimate basis document with qualifications and assumptions.
  • Maintain cost and benchmarking databases with current costs/quotes for new project types.
  • Facilitate internal and external estimate reviews and presentations with management, Study Manager, clients, and project team members.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential Competencies

  • Knowledge and experience in EPC estimating practices and methods.
  • Strong experience with estimating for brownfield modifications and/or capital projects during FEED and Detail Design, with an understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of engineering, project management and construction management concepts.
  • Ability to develop bottom-up cost estimates for worldwide locations using limited engineering input when needed, based on experience, historical data, and in-house software/databases.
  • Awareness of construction and installation methods to develop detailed EPC costs.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, efficient, proactive, and a good team player.
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of staff, vendors, and clients.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Desirable Competencies and Experience

  • Experience with decommissioning cost estimating is desirable.
  • Experience with greenfield and/or subsea cost estimating desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with Aspen Capital Cost Estimator software (ACCE) desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Previous experience in Oil and Gas, Energy Transition or related sectors.
  • In-house training to achieve MCasA accreditation could be provided.
