We are looking for a Design Engineer to join the Architecture and Design Team supporting Global Diesel and alternative fuel ICE platforms (including Hydrogen). This role will suit an individual looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a fast-paced organisation at the cutting edge of engine design and development. We are looking for candidates who can apply their experience and knowledge to new and existing concepts, using engineering first principles to understand problems and provide an engineering solution.
You will be part of the team responsible for the creation of the models and drawings for the engines, where they start with concept designs for new exciting designs and follow these through to production while maintaining a design information document to capture the decisions, thoughts and justifications for the design. You will work closely with many departments making sure the designs are robust and fulfil their requirements while keeping a keen eye on costs.
Design Engineer Requirements:
- Be proficient in CAD, (Preferably Siemens NX), manage BOMs.
- Releasing and managing parts/assemblies using Siemens Teamcenter software.
- Be responsible for the design of components from concept to production.
- Be proficient in detail design and applying GD&T to create complex drawings.
- Carry out calculations and basic analysis - bolted joints, tolerance stacks and simple FEA, produce reports and documentation to aid in the validation process and capture the design history.
- Have knowledge of various manufacturing techniques - casting, forging, sheet metal, pipe bending and machining.
- Improving existing designs to resolve issues and reduce costs.
- Work with other departments such as Purchasing, quality and Assembly.
