The Genesis Value and Scientific Communications (VSC) team includes accomplished medical writers and scientists dedicated to collaborating closely with our clients and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). The team excels in distilling essential insights from clinical trials, RWE studies, economic models, and other HEOR strategic initiatives into clear, concise communications. We have developed a significant body of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations across various therapeutic areas and target audiences, and have produced high-impact deliverables such as dossiers, slide decks, health technology assessment (HTA) submission documents, and training materials.

Summary

The Associate Director of Value and Scientific Communications will combine deep scientific writing expertise with strategic thinking and strong client relationship management skills. This individual will take hands-on ownership of high-quality scientific deliverables, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and slide decks for conference presentations, supporting projects grounded in RWE, HEOR, and market access strategy. They will bring a passion for translating complex evidence into clear, compelling, and impactful communications, while also providing mentorship to junior team members and contributing to the continued growth of Genesis's scientific communications capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scientific Writing & Deliverable Development
    • Independently lead, draft, revise, and finalize a broad range of high-quality scientific communication materials, including:
      • Peer-reviewed manuscripts for submission to scientific journals
      • Abstracts for scientific conferences
      • Scientific posters and slide decks for podium presentations
      • Tables, figures, and data visualizations
    • Help authors translate complex RWE and HEOR findings into clear, accurate, and compelling scientific narratives tailored to target audiences
    • Contribute to value dossiers, structured literature reviews, HTA submissions, and other value communication deliverables as needed
    • Correctly evaluate and interpret source documents (protocols, study reports, results tables) to develop outlines, appropriate tables, and figures
    • Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of scientific integrity, accuracy, and compliance with relevant guidelines (ICMJE, GPP, etc.)
    • Perform relevant searches of the clinical literature and summarize findings
    • Coordinate and complete journal and abstract submissions in adherence to submission guidelines and client templates
    • Provide copy editing, proofreading, and quality control reviews for other writers and researchers
    • Methodically incorporate author and reviewer comments to improve document accuracy and clarity
    • Address, revise, and clarify conflicting or ambiguous comments from authors and reviewers
  • Project & Client Management
    • Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery with exceptional quality
    • Develop and maintain project timelines, track milestones, and proactively communicate project status to internal and external stakeholders
    • Coordinate cross-functional input from authors and internal research teams
    • Participate in and lead relevant internal and external team meetings, as well as client-facing project meetings
    • Manage existing and developing client relationships, including provision of strategic support, oversight of materials, post-submission support, and scientific advice
    • Participate in client capabilities presentations and support proposal development
    • Anticipate capacity issues and proactively identify solutions
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Mentor and support junior team members involved in writing projects
    • Lead and/or contribute to the development of templates, new ideas, and process improvements related to scientific communications
    • Assist in developing standards and processes, facilitate training opportunities, and provide consultation and resources to Genesis project teams
    • Share ideas for process improvement across the organization
    • Contribute to internal thought leadership projects
  • Compliance & Professional Development
    • Maintain compliance with publication policies and procedures, including confidentiality, Quality Management System, secure file transfer, copyright law, and privacy protection
    • Develop familiarity with current industry practices, regulatory requirements, and guidelines that affect medical writing and value communications
    • Work across therapy areas to build knowledge of different study types and methods
    • Participate in training opportunities to enhance relevant skills and share learnings with the broader team

Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD within a relevant life science, public health, or health economics-related discipline
  • 5+ years of industry or consulting experience in scientific/medical writing and/or evidence synthesis, across multiple project types and disease areas
  • Proven experience writing for the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in RWE, epidemiology, and/or HEOR
  • Strong attention to detail, clarity, and scientific accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent time and project management skills, including setting project goals, timelines, and budgeted hours
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Proficiency in EndNote for reference management
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro)
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple simultaneous projects and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to challenge diplomatically and appropriately
