We are partnering with a well established, growing manufacturing business to appoint a commercially focused and analytically strong Commercial Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is a high impact, senior level role responsible for leading pricing, tender activity and commercial strategy, while working closely with senior leadership to support business growth and profitability. This role offers a broad commercial remit, combining pricing strategy, forecasting, budgeting, tender management and stakeholder engagement. You will play a key role in shaping commercial decision making, improving margins and supporting both existing client relationships and new business opportunities. The successful candidate will also manage a small commercial and retail account management team, providing leadership and ensuring alignment across commercial priorities. There is also potential for parts of this team to evolve or be restructured, making this an opportunity to shape the function moving forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all pricing, estimating and tender activity across existing and new client opportunities
- Manage ongoing customer tenders, pricing negotiations and commercial proposals
- Oversee forecasting and budgeting processes, including involvement in the upcoming FY27 budget cycle
- Drive margin improvement through data led pricing strategy and commercial analysis
- Manage and develop pricing tools and commercial frameworks already in place within the business
- Work closely with Business Development, Sales and Operations teams to support new business growth
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support strategic commercial planning and decision making
- Present monthly commercial performance and business reviews to senior stakeholders and board level
- Provide commercial oversight for key client accounts and major programmes
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across commercial processes and governance
- Manage and support a small team of three commercial colleagues, including retail account management responsibilities
- Ensure strong cross functional collaboration with Finance, Supply Chain and Operations
About You
- Strong commercial and analytical experience within a manufacturing, FMCG or similar environment
- Experience managing pricing, tenders, forecasting and budgeting processes
- Previous involvement in annual budget cycles and financial planning preferred
- Confident presenting to senior stakeholders and board level audiences
- Experience managing or mentoring small commercial or account management teams
- Strong financial awareness with the ability to interpret data and drive margin improvement
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, evolving business environment
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills, with ERP experience essential
- Collaborative, proactive and commercially minded approach
- Packaging industry experience is helpful but not essential
