Job Purpose:

We are seeking a seasoned Subsea Production Systems engineer to join our Subsea and Pipelines team to provide technical excellence within the discipline. The successful candidate will be required to provide input and expertise in the design, definition, and delivery of subsea production systems at all phases, including installation, commissioning and operational support. This will include the system design and package management of subsea production systems in both traditional oil and gas projects, and energy transition such as Carbon Capture and Underground Storage (CCUS).

Job scope:

  • Definition of subsea production system equipment, and subsea architecture for concept and FEED studies.
  • Contribution to the selection and options process for the initial field layout and architecture.
  • Undertaking specialist subsea production system studies for system expansion, life extension, fault finding and fault rectification.
  • Package management for the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of new systems and equipment.
  • Operations support and system integrity management.
  • Support to interface engineering, subsea system engineering & management.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Delivery of subsea production systems in accordance with project requirements, client design and engineering practices, industry standards & guidelines (international, national and company) and UK regulations.
  • Perform subsea production discipline engineering critical tasks and activities to deliver or support delivery of Project Control and Assurance Plan (PCAP) control points, such as; subsea field layouts, concept select report, subsea control system preliminary design package, basis for design, etc.
  • Critical tasks and activities include, but aren’t limited to; the development of various options for the subsea production system and; the specification of functional & performance requirements for design of a competitive Subsea Controls System.
  • Provide input into other PCAP control points such as, cost & schedule estimates, risk Register, risk assessments, (integrated) technical reviews, etc.
  • Perform discipline critical tasks and activities to deliver or support delivery of PCAP control points, vendor technical deliverables and documents.
  • Critical tasks and activities include; interfacing with and collecting design input data from key client disciplines, management of technical interfaces with external stakeholders, verifying technical requirements as documented in BDEP, witnessing FATs/SITs, delivery of vendors’ as‑builts and handover of subsea control system to the client’s assets group, and responding to any technical queries.
  • Provide input into other PCAP control points such as, cost & schedule estimates, risk register, risk assessments (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP), (Integrated) technical reviews, etc.

Skill & experience required:

  • Extensive experience in subsea production systems and control technologies.
  • In‑depth knowledge of subsea production systems, including relevant codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with subsea control and communication systems, such as umbilicals and hydraulic components.
  • Be familiar with Subsea XT hardware XTs, Tubing Hangers, chokes, tree Caps, Flowbases, Protection requirements and associated industry standards API 17D/6A.
  • Understand mechanical analysis reports and calculations e.g. FEA assessment, Mathcad calculations etc.
  • Coordinate, attend and oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and System Integration Tests (SIT) to ensure equipment meets stringent subsea standards with the vendor. These may be at third party locations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports.
  • Experience in manufacturing, consultancy, OEM design, or offshore environments.
  • Hands‑on experience in front‑end engineering (FEED) and early project phases for both greenfield and brownfield developments.
  • Track record of delivering, installing, and commissioning subsea production systems.
  • Experienced in dealing with Clients.
  • Time in our Aberdeen office is essential for successful project execution.
