Genesis Bakery is based in Magherafelt. Are you an ambitious IT student looking to gain hands-on industry experience and develop real-world skills in a fast-paced, innovative environment? This one-year placement offers a unique opportunity to join our IT team and play an active role in supporting business systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to projects that make a meaningful impact across the organisation.

You will work alongside experienced IT professionals, gaining exposure to a broad range of technologies while building confidence, capability, and practical knowledge that will support your future career. Your day will be varied and will include providing technical support on applications and a range of technical software and systems across various departments. Other duties will include minimising interruption to IT supply, troubleshooting IT related problems in a timely manner and liaising with third-party suppliers or support services where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical support on applications and a range of technical software and systems.
  • Assisting with the effective delivery of IT support across all departments, including software & hardware support in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring the IT department maintains an adequate supply of consumables and equipment as necessary.
  • Minimising interruption to IT supply and troubleshooting IT related problems in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring all Hardware and software is asset managed & licensing is legally compliant.
  • Liaising with third-party suppliers or support services where necessary.
Main Duties:
  • 1st Line Technical Support across all departments.
  • Active Directory (AD) Administration (User/Security Group creation & Permission allocation).
  • Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Administration (Assign & set-up internal extensions/rules).
  • Diagnostic testing of Windows 11 and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Maintain Network infrastructure (e.g. DNS, DHCP, Port forwarding, switch management).
  • Proactive server support & upkeep.
  • O365 tenant Management.
  • Production/Office Software & Equipment diagnostics & maintenance.
  • ERP (NAV) Maintenance & Development.
  • Data Analysis including warehousing & Report creation.
  • Asset Management & Documentation of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • CCTV administration & maintenance.
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers where appropriate (e.g. Managing the Delivery of new equipment).
  • Train & transfer knowledge to internal teams.
Health and Safety:
  • Safety starts with you - you must take care of your own health and safety and others who might be affected by your activities.
  • Cooperate with Genesis and those you work with, by always adopting safe working practices in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Ensure safety is paramount, leading by example and promoting a zero accident culture.
  • Participate in any health and safety training, and assist in the development and training of SOPs and risk assessments.
  • Use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as per training.
  • Challenge unsafe behaviour in a timely way.
  • Promote and encourage reporting of hazards and near misses.
  • Consult HS&E Manager on any identified risks and agree and implement control measures.
Other Duties:
  • Ensure standards are met for all Customer audits, SEDEX audits and BRC audits.
  • Adhere at all times to the Ethical Trading Initiative Base code.

  • IT Skills to include Microsoft Office.
  • Working towards a Degree in IT or related discipline.
