About the company
This AI biology company is developing biological foundation models to learn how human biology works, alongside AI agents that can reason over biological data and support scientific discovery. Its work aims to connect insights across molecules, cells, tissues and organs, helping researchers uncover patterns and possibilities that fragmented approaches may miss.
The company’s vision is to build AI systems capable of understanding and discovering biology, with the long-term goal of transforming how treatments are found and developed. Its approach combines large-scale, multimodal biomedical data with machine learning, reinforcement learning and scientific experimentation. The culture values high agency, rigorous research, thoughtful engineering and close collaboration between scientific and technical teams.
What the job entails
As a Senior Member of Technical Staff, you will be a hands‑on technical contributor helping shape the research direction and technical foundations of an AI biology organisation. Depending on your experience, you may focus on biological foundation models, deep learning, reinforcement learning, AI agents or large‑scale machine learning systems.
You will design, train and evaluate models for high‑dimensional biological and clinical data, and build reliable infrastructure that enables ambitious experiments to run quickly. You will develop robust evaluation methods, translate biological questions into machine learning problems, and interpret model results to generate useful biological insight.
You will also help create AI agents that reason over data, generate hypotheses, design experiments and use scientific tools. Working closely with scientists and engineers, you will diagnose failure modes, guide research decisions and help establish the team’s technical standards and engineering culture.
Key requirements / What we look for
- Deep understanding of machine learning and experience building research‑grade models.
- Strong research judgement: able to design experiments, interpret results and diagnose failure modes.
- High agency, comfort with ambiguity and a track record of taking ownership.
- Sound engineering judgement and ability to develop elegant, robust solutions.
- Biological machine learning experience is valuable; relevant data may include single‑cell, molecular, clinical or imaging datasets.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range of £150,000–£250,000, plus significant equity.
- Private medical and dental cover, and flexible time off.
- Budget for equipment, software, research tools and infrastructure; access to substantial compute and proprietary biomedical data.
- Fully funded conference attendance, regular team meals and a stocked office.
