Generations People is recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Assembly Fitter to join a global manufacturing company based in Chesterfield. The purpose of the role requires the post holder to work as an individual and with the wider team in the mechanical assembly of manufactured products and fixtures that incorporate a series of welding, mechanical fitting, piping, wiring, cables, and other mechanical & electrical fixtures and fittings to deliver functional systems that conform with strict quality requirements on time and in full.
Responsibilities and duties for the Mechanical Assembly Fitter:
- The Mechanical Assembly Fitter is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring Altek products are assembled to the required standard.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of the service supplied by oneself and the Mechanical Fitting Team to the internal/external customer.
- Complete all aspects of mechanical assembly ensuring deliverables are submitted in line with the project execution schedule.
- Comply with Company procedures and work instructions, guide notes, and other information that forms part of the Health & Safety and Environmental, Quality Assurance Management Systems.
- Work with Technical drawings to direct required assembly requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation to ensure all quality checks and measures are complete.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving the Cost of Quality to the business by managing and reporting all waste labour & materials and looking at ways to reduce such waste.
- Working closely and maintaining a strong working relationship with all departments within the business, especially engineering, ensuring all non-conformances are captured in an effort to reduce the risk of repeat.
- Supports any reasonable work/business request.
- Fabrication and welding to company weld procedures.
- Mechanical Assembly and Fitting of company build products for industrial use.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 2 years’ experience and knowledge in mechanical assembly of engineered manufactured products or similar.
- Experienced in welding.
- Experienced and competent in the use of all fitting hand tools to include drilling, cutting, grinding etc. and methods.
- Competent with check and measure methods, and using tools such as Torque Wrenches, Multi meters, and Pulse testers.
- Pneumatic assembly skills.
- Relevant Btec or HND in a similar discipline.
- Mig & Tig welding qualifications.
- Competent in reading, interpreting, and understanding detailed drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
