We’re recruiting an electrically biased Maintenance Supervisor for a leading manufacturing business in Chesterfield. You’ll oversee all maintenance activity across the site — ensuring machinery, equipment and facilities run safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide the maintenance team, manage preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and drive continuous improvement across plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and develop the maintenance team
  • Ensure 100% compliance with planned preventive maintenance schedules
  • Respond quickly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime
  • Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, contractors and CMMS records
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and statutory regulations
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Plan and manage shutdowns, maintenance projects and new equipment installations
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and performance reports
  • Work closely with production to maximise equipment uptime
  • Drive continuous improvement using KPIs such as uptime, MTTR and MTBF

Requirements

  • Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Maintenance Engineering
  • 5–10 years’ maintenance experience with supervisory responsibility
  • Strong electrical bias — essential
  • Apprentice trained
  • Solid mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge
  • Experience using CMMS/maintenance management software
  • Excellent leadership, planning, budgeting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and engineering best practice

Desirable

  • PLC and automation experience
  • 18th Edition
  • IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or CI methodologies

Working Conditions

  • PPE required where applicable
  • Hands-on support when needed
