We’re recruiting an electrically biased Maintenance Supervisor for a leading manufacturing business in Chesterfield. You’ll oversee all maintenance activity across the site — ensuring machinery, equipment and facilities run safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide the maintenance team, manage preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and drive continuous improvement across plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and develop the maintenance team
- Ensure 100% compliance with planned preventive maintenance schedules
- Respond quickly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, contractors and CMMS records
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and statutory regulations
- Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Plan and manage shutdowns, maintenance projects and new equipment installations
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and performance reports
- Work closely with production to maximise equipment uptime
- Drive continuous improvement using KPIs such as uptime, MTTR and MTBF
Requirements
- Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Maintenance Engineering
- 5–10 years’ maintenance experience with supervisory responsibility
- Strong electrical bias — essential
- Apprentice trained
- Solid mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge
- Experience using CMMS/maintenance management software
- Excellent leadership, planning, budgeting and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and engineering best practice
Desirable
- PLC and automation experience
- 18th Edition
- IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or CI methodologies
Working Conditions
