Generations People are currently seeking a talented technician to support in the operation of a fantastic role based in Rotherham. The company's goal is to accelerate customers on their journey to manage their emissions from fossil fuels with a practical and cost-effective technology. They offer a range of production systems to the heating and transport sectors for the onsite generation of Hydrogen and will become a key enabler of the low Carbon Hydrogen economy which is essential to stopping further climate change.
Key Responsibilities:
- As part of a multi-discipline team, the workshop technician will support the engineers and their responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and preparing equipment, instruments, and materials for experiments or tests.
- Fabricating and maintaining mechanical and electrical subsystems for the test equipment.
- Performing maintenance and calibration of equipment to ensure operability, accuracy and reliability.
- Assisting engineers in conducting experiments, tests, and research projects.
- Collecting and analysing data, measurements, and observations using various tools and techniques.
- Recording and documenting experimental data, observations, and results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Creating and following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols to ensure consistency and reproducibility of experiments.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues or problems that may arise during experiments or tests.
- Assisting in the development and optimization of test systems, procedures and other development activities (e.g. design feedback on mechanical designs like vessels).
- Keeping accurate records of equipment/consumables inventory.
- Maintaining safety protocols and ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications, Experience and skills:
- GCSE or equivalent, technical college graduate or apprentice trained preferred.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical or electrical work or 3 years of experience as a technician in an engineering workshop or laboratory setting.
- Strong work ethic with a drive to complete tasks with very high-quality standards.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Can work effectively in a diverse team.
- Able to operate and maintain complex systems and test equipment.
- Piping skills, welding skills, soldering and/or electrical wiring skills are desirable.
- Safety focused.
- Experience with operating PLC control systems and datalogger systems.
- Proficient with the use of hand tools.
- Knowledge of 5S.
- Able to read engineering and electrical drawings.
- Flexible, able to turn your hand to a variety of tasks as required.
- FLT license would be beneficial.
- UK travel and overseas travel may be required to cover attendance at training courses, and occasional customer or supplier visits.
