Generation UK & Ireland

As the NextGen Youth Outreach Manager, you will lead outreach partnership activity focused on engaging young people across England with Generation programmes as part of a year‑long, high‑profile project (titled NextGen internally) we are embarking on to scale our youth provision. This role will focus on building and managing cross‑regional and national partnerships, specifically with organisations and teams supporting young people, to create sustainable referral pathways into our programmes. You will complement the work of regional Outreach Managers by expanding Generation’s reach beyond traditional referral routes and strengthening engagement with youth‑serving organisations. You will play a critical role in increasing awareness, generating high‑quality applications to our programmes, and ensuring partners are equipped to connect young people with the right opportunities. An expectation of regular travel across our four English target regions is anticipated, likely twice per week for partner meetings and direct outreach to potential applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage partnerships with FE colleges, combined and local authority youth services, and national youth organisations to support learner recruitment.
  • Identify and establish new cross‑regional and national partnerships to expand Generation’s reach among young people.
  • Build strong, sustainable referral pathways outside of well‑established DWP/Job Centre Plus routes.
  • Act as a key external representative of Generation, building awareness and enthusiasm for our programmes.

Reporting, Monitoring and Learning

  • Track partnership engagement, referrals, and conversion outcomes to inform performance and strategy.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to the Head of Outreach and wider team.
  • Provide feedback on success and learnings to external partners to strengthen relationships and collect learnings for future cohorts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve outreach effectiveness and partnership models.
  • Share learnings to support scalable and sustainable outreach approaches across regions.

Collaboration & Programme Development

  • Work closely with regional Outreach Managers to align activity and avoid duplication of efforts.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Marketing, and Programme teams to ensure a seamless learner journey.
  • Contribute to the development of outreach strategies focused on young people facing barriers to employment.

Candidate Profile

  • Exceptional relationship‑building skills – able to engage and influence a wide range of partners and diverse audiences.
  • Passion for social impact – motivated to support young people into meaningful careers.
  • Strategic mindset – able to identify and develop new partnership opportunities.
  • Proactivity and ownership – comfortable working independently to drive results.
  • Excellent communication skills – confident presenting, influencing, and collaborating.
  • Adaptability and curiosity – open to learning and improving approaches based on data and feedback.
  • Experience in leading or significantly supporting outreach, partnerships, business development or recruitment (ideally in education, youth, or employability settings).
  • Experience working with organisations supporting young people or underserved groups.
  • A track record of building and managing external partnerships to generate clear results.
  • Experience designing or delivering outreach campaigns or engagement activities.
  • Experience working towards targets in a fast‑paced environment.
  • All staff in the UK are required to undergo a DBS check.

Working Hours

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Standard working hours are 9am‑6pm (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break) with the option to flex‑start and end time.
  • Flexibility to balance commitments, including medical appointments, parental or caregiving responsibilities, and personal goals.

Salary

  • London: ÂŁ35,611 / Outside London: ÂŁ31,328 pro‑rata for 12 months.

Benefits

  • Autonomy to own and advance your own workstreams as part of an ambitious, fast‑growing charity.
  • Flexible/hybrid working accommodating your preferred working pattern and needs with a work‑from‑home set‑up allowance.
  • Professional development opportunities including an annual personal development budget, up to 5 days training/study leave and protected time for your own learning and development.
  • Volunteering opportunities with the chance to support our learners with mock interviews.
  • 25 days annual leave.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
