About the partnership
Generation Success connects ambitious talent with employers building the workplace of tomorrow. We are recruiting this internship on behalf of AlixPartners to widen access to careers that can feel hard to reach.
About the internship
This is real work with structured support, not a work-shadowing placement. You will be embedded across the People Business Partnering and People Operations teams during one of the busiest periods in their year. Most of your time supports the Business Partnering team on visible, people-facing work such as mid-year promotion panels and compensation planning, with supplementary support to the Operations team on practical coordination like scheduling and issuing contracts.
What you will do
During the internship, you will coordinate the senior promotion panels and performance meetings that shape who moves up, managing busy and competing leadership diaries. You will keep the People team’s records and trackers accurate, working confidently in Excel, and you will pull together the data and write the summaries that leaders rely on to make talent decisions. You will also help new joiners through their first week so onboarding runs smoothly, draft employee letters, and pick up other coordination work as it comes up.
If you are wondering whether to apply
You do not need to have worked in HR, to have a degree, or to know anyone in consulting. If you are interested in people, organisation and how a business runs, this could be a strong first step.
What you will bring
We hire for potential. If you are organised, curious, willing to ask when you are unsure, and ready to take responsibility for what is in front of you, you are the kind of person we want.
Essential
- Keep track of details: You manage tasks, deadlines, information and follow-ups accurately.
- Take ownership: You take responsibility for a task, keep others updated and ask for help when you need it.
- Communicate clearly: You write and speak clearly in English, including with senior colleagues.
- Use core Microsoft Office: You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
- Handle information with care: People work is sensitive, and you treat confidential information with discretion.
- Work well on your own: You can work independently from home while staying connected with your buddy, recruiter and team.
Nice to have
Confidence with PowerPoint or AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot is useful but not required. Previous HR, office, volunteering, community or customer-facing experience may help, though we care more about organisation, communication, discretion and willingness to learn.
What to expect, honestly
AlixPartners works at pace, and you will need to keep up and prioritise sensibly. The firm is between offices, so desk space is limited and you will work from home much of the time. In-office days are confirmed week by week, and you will learn and live by the AlixPartners Code of Conduct.
What you will gain
You will leave with real experience across both the strategic and operational sides of a global People function, direct exposure to senior leaders, stronger Excel, communication and coordination skills, and a clearer view of whether HR, consulting or professional services fit your future, along with the confidence and network to take your next step.
Support available to you
From the moment you apply, Generation Success is in your corner. You will have a named recruiter as your point of contact from application through to offer. You will receive interview preparation, including a briefing on AlixPartners and the internship, coaching on how to structure strong answers using the STAR method, and a mock interview with feedback where time allows.
Access and practical support
We want the eight weeks to work for you, not just the application. Tell your Generation Success recruiter what you need, in confidence, and we will work with AlixPartners to sort it.
Fair recruitment and adjustments
Generation Success and AlixPartners are committed to fair recruitment. Selection is based on the internship criteria and your potential, and we will not disadvantage anyone because of a protected characteristic.
