Conservation Internship Programme 2026

Contract Type: Summer Internship (8-15 weeks)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM (40 hours per week, with a one-hour paid lunch break)

Location: London (near Chancery Lane Tube station), with Fridays working from home

Pay: London Living Wage (£14.80 per hour), plus an Oyster card for travel

Kickstart your career in conservation. Working in conservation is an opportunity to protect planet and people. At Synchronicity Earth, we fund efforts at the intersection of biodiversity, human rights, and sustainable livelihoods, and we need someone to help us share stories about the wildlife, communities, and organisations we support. If you’re a natural writer and storyteller with a flair for social media, this is a chance to do meaningful communications work in the environment sector and gain an understanding of how a small international conservation NGO operates.

Who we are: Synchronicity Earth is a UK-based charity supporting conservation projects across seven programmes: Amphibian, Asian Species, Biocultural Diversity, Congo Basin, Freshwater, Melanesia, and Ocean. We partner with local and Indigenous communities, funding initiatives that protect biodiversity by championing overlooked species and ecosystems. We know that the environment sector has a long way to go to become as diverse as it should be, and we have partnered with Generation Success for our internship recruitment as part of our commitment to making entry-level positions more inclusive and accessible in our sector.

What you’ll be doing: “Saving our planet is now a communications challenge. We know what to do, we just need the will.” Sir David Attenborough. Most of your time will be spent on communications – primarily creating social media content and updating our partner pages on the website. You’ll be someone who can transform sometimes complex conservation updates and turn it into a story: something compelling, visually engaging, and aligned with our brand.

• Crafting and designing social media posts across our channels, particularly Instagram and LinkedIn
• Researching, writing, and updating content for our partner pages or blogs
• Supporting the preparation of internal and external newsletters
• Helping with occasional tasks across other teams – be it research or admin – which contribute to the smooth running of the organisation

You’ll receive full training throughout, and we’ll do our best to shape the experience around your interests.

Who we’re looking for: We’re looking for someone who is passionate about nature and understands the importance of sharing impactful conservation work. You’ll be a confident writer who genuinely enjoys crafting stories, ideally with some experience creating and designing social media posts. You’ll be organised enough to balance a varied workload and meet deadlines, while maintaining an eye for detail, a proactive approach, and an adaptable, can-do attitude. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Experience editing text or using design tools like Canva would also be a bonus, but not essential, as training will be provided. The most important thing is that you bring initiative, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn.
