Introduction to the role
GSW is looking to recruit a Senior Partnership Sales Manager to support the organisation’s rightsholder commercial consulting team, as part of their European operation, led by CEO Sam Rush.
The commercial consulting team supports sports organisations and venues to drive greater commercial revenues and efficiencies within their organisations, specifically across partnerships, ticketing, memberships and hospitality. This role will be focused on the acquisition of new partners for GSW’s clients at a pivotal time in our growth. You will be responsible for supporting sales strategy development, as well as identifying and recruiting new partners for our clients. You will work as part of a partnership sales team and in close collaboration with the commercial operations team.
The GSW leadership team have owned and operated some of the biggest sports agencies, teams and franchises in world sport. Our wider team also has significant experience, totalling more than 100 years in the sports industry across rights holders such as Manchester United FC, Nottingham Forest FC, Leeds United FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, Essex Cricket, the London Stadium, New York Mets, DetroitPistons, Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Hawks.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Meet and exceed partnership sales targets
- Business identification, lead generation and outreach to help drive partnerships sales on behalf of GSW’s clients
- Help to create compelling presentations to partners, representing GSW’s clients in a way that aligns to their brand values
- Manage and participate in partner contract negotiations; leading on or assisting in closing partner agreements
- Maintain a constant strong pipeline of prospects, forecasting for continuous deal delivery
- Develop and maintain strong relationships of trust and respect with GSW’s clients and other key stakeholders (both internal & external)
Knowledge & experience required
- Proven track record of representing rightsholders to deliver material revenue growth
- 5+ years\’ experience in sports sponsorship
- Excellent understanding of how to create sponsorship agreements and effective partnership programmes that deliver value
- Sound knowledge of the national and regional/local sports landscape
- Broad commercial acumen
- Experience in a rightsholder environment (desirable)
- Strong presentation skills to articulate client story and partnership opportunity to prospects
- Creative approach to sales and persistent determination through the sales cycle
- High-level skills in all aspects of sales prospecting and contract negotiations
- Competent in CRM tools
- Competent in MS packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
