We are looking for a Decision Writer to join our team making important decisions on whether cases need to be considered by one of our independent committees or whether they can be resolved at the end of an investigation. This is an important and influential role where you will lead and support the training and development of other decision makers and take on an ambassadorial role on behalf of the organisation to generate greater understanding of fitness to practise and inspections by professionals, employers and the public.
Decision Writers provide high-quality decision‑making on fitness to practise investigations, resolving cases through closure or referring to independent panels. They give advice and direction to our triage, casework and administrative teams to ensure consistent, efficient and proportionate case progression and decision making. They work with and support our legal team in providing a quality assurance and compliance function, leading and supporting the training and development of a team of decision makers as well as the management of our internal and external stakeholder relationships to enhance the organisations effectiveness in delivering key aims.
The successful applicant will:
- Have experience in analysing complex or high-volume information to reach proportionate and well-reasoned decisions in line with established criteria.
- Be confident to make independent fair and proportionate decisions in response to investigations into a registrant’s fitness against the threshold and acceptance criteria.
- Act as an advisor across the Regulatory Enforcement function to empower others to apply a robust, risk based and proportionate approach to the handling and progress of fitness to practise concerns.
- Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve a multi-disciplinary approach to managing patient safety and public confidence issues including the training and sign off a small team of call off and hybrid decision writers.
